Assistant Principal (PreK-2)
Primary Purpose:
To assist the principal in providing leadership and supervision that promotes student success, a positive campus culture, and high-quality instruction for all students in grades PreK-2. The assistant principal supports the day-to-day operations of the campus with a strong focus on student discipline, attendance, assessment coordination, and compliance with state and district requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Campus Leadership & Operations Support the principal in the overall administration and supervision of campus programs and activities Foster a positive, safe, and student-centered school climate Assist in implementing campus improvement plans and district initiatives Supervise arrival, dismissal, lunch, and other daily campus operations Student Discipline & Behavior Management Serve as the primary administrator for student discipline Implement and monitor campus behavior systems and PBIS practices Conduct investigations, assign appropriate consequences, and communicate with families Maintain accurate discipline records and ensure compliance with district and state policies Attendance Oversight Monitor and track student attendance data Work with families, staff, and district personnel to improve student attendance Coordinate interventions for students with chronic absenteeism Ensure compliance with truancy laws and required documentation Testing Coordinator Serve as campus testing coordinator for all state and local assessments Ensure all testing procedures are followed with fidelity and security Train staff on testing protocols and accommodations Organize testing schedules, materials, and reporting processes 504 Coordinator Oversee Section 504 processes and compliance Coordinate meetings, documentation, and implementation of student accommodations Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure student needs are met Maintain accurate and confidential records Instructional Leadership & TTESS Appraisal Serve as a TTESS appraiser for assigned staff Conduct observations, walkthroughs, and evaluations Provide timely feedback and coaching to improve instructional practices Support professional development aligned to campus goals Elementary Program Support (PreK-2 Focus) Support developmentally appropriate practices for early childhood and primary grades Collaborate with teachers to strengthen foundational literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional learning Assist with curriculum implementation and instructional planning Promote a nurturing and engaging learning environment for young learners
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Educational Leadership or related field Valid Texas Principal Certification Minimum of three years successful teaching experience (elementary preferred) Strong knowledge of PreK-2 instructional practices and child development
