Executive Director of School Leadership Exempt Status Exempt No. of Days According to district approved calendar Department Reports To Deputy Superintendent Supervises As assigned Education- Master's degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas Principal or Mid-Management certification
- Certified in the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS)
- Certified in the Texas Principal Evaluation and Support System (T-PESS) Experience
- Five years of successful campus and/or district administrative experience at progressively higher levels of responsibility.
- Three years of successful teaching experience
POSITION FUNCTION/PURPOSE
Support and improve principals' capacity for instructional leadership. Engage in effective professional learning strategies to help principals grow. Use evidence of principals' effectiveness to determine necessary improvements in principals' practice to foster a positive educational environment that supports the learning needs of students. Develops an overall strategic plan for elementary, junior high, and/or high schools. Identifies critical issues, and resource requirements, and sets measurable, and achievable goals focused on student academic growth. Participate in district wide planning initiatives and accountability management programs designed to achieve district objectives and Board of Trustees goals. Adhere to federal, state laws and regulations, as well as, district policies regulations, and procedures.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT 1.
Provide leadership, direction, and support in the coordination and alignment of effective research-based programs that result in high achievement for all student groups. 2. Ensure district student achievement and school performance indicators are met, to include State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR), End of Course (EOC), district and Board indicators, and national standards. 3. Ensure alignment of instructional goals and objectives of the district and campus. 4. Monitor and assist schools in developing instructional strategies district-wide which enhance students' success. 5. Ability to align curriculum, instruction, and assessment to standards; implementing and evaluating academic programs; leading and facilitating collaboration among campuses; and analyzing and utilizing data effectively to improve instruction. 6. Monitor appropriate use of student achievement data in interpreting, reporting, and acting on results. 7. Exercise leadership in designating and planning for staff development programs beneficial to and aligned with campus needs. 8. Provide for comprehensive annual evaluation of campus effectiveness; use findings to take corrective actions and plan for continued improvement as measured by student achievement outcomes and results. 9. Facilitate campus administration and teacher development of appropriate learning experiences for students and ensure that student activities are effective in supporting the teaching/learning process. District Management 10. Ensure the district goals and objectives are developed using collaborative processes and problem-solving techniques when appropriate. 11. Participate in the district-level decision-making process to establish and review the district's goals and objectives and major classroom instructional programs. 12. Assure ongoing professional communication and close collaboration with all district instructional departments in support of state standards, district goals and federal regulations. 13. Facilitate and support the development and implementation of innovative instructional programs to achieve identified district and campus objectives. 14. Develop and implement action plans needed to increase student enrollment and attendance, reduce dropout rates, increase student achievement to meet district standards for all schools and programs. Personnel/Performance Management 15. Recruits, selects, coaches, supervises, monitors, and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel. 16. Actively support the efforts of others to achieve district goals and objectives and campus performance objectives. 17. Supervise and evaluate professional and non-professional personnel assigned to ensure maximum growth. 18. Ensure effective use of calibration of the Principal and Assistant Principal evaluation tools. 19. Assist with preparing, reviewing, and revising job descriptions. School/Community Relations 20. Articulate the district's mission, instructional philosophy, and curriculum implementation strategies to the community and solicit its support in realizing the district's mission. 21. Work collaboratively to foster interdepartmental coordination. Provide a positive work environment that fosters high staff morale and excellence in assigned areas and in the district. 22. Use management practices that promote collegiality, teamwork and collaborative decision-making to foster high staff morale and excellence in the district. 23. Demonstrate skill in conflict resolution with all district personnel, staff, parents, and the community. 24. Communicates effectively with board members, administrators, teachers, students, parents, community members, and business partners. Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management 25. Thorough knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and local accountability measures; state and local assessments; and Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requirement. 26. Monitor the Campus Educational Improvement Council (CEIC) process, attendance procedures, and Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) reporting procedures on assigned campuses. 27. Promote positive community relations through effective communication and involvement of community members; use management practices that promote collegiality, teamwork, and collaborative decision-making and foster high staff morale and excellence in the district. 28. Participate in professional development activities as required by the district. 29. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties; support district/department goals. 30. Maintain a professional code of ethics and perform other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of instructional programs at the elementary level in the public schools
- Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
- Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well with a diverse population
