Job Over The Chief of Schools will provide leadership to support the District mission, vision, and goals of the Board and Superintendent through oversight of school administration and effective implementation of instructional programs and initiatives. Position Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide a leadership model through self-behaviors, demonstrating a strong work ethic, integrity and loyalty to the organization's mission and direction Think strategically with the ability to plan, formulate and execute policies and programs Articulate the District's mission, instructional philosophy and curriculum implementation strategies to themunity and solicit their support in realizing its mission Plan the necessary time, resources and materials to support assigned areas of supervision in aplishment of district and departmental goals Improve the quality of services, products and processes through training, automation and redesigning of processes and practices Collaborate with District departments to build and maintain effective cross functional relationships that result in a shared vision and achievement of the District's goals and initiatives Oversee the recruitment, selection, assignment, supervision and evaluation of departmental personnel and campus leaders Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with school and department-based personnel to ensure prudent management of funds and human resources necessary to carry out the diverse functions and programs of assigned areas of supervision Direct the development, revision and approval of proposed new and revised Board Policies and Administrative Procedures relevant to the division to ensurepliance with School Board guidance and governmental regulations Demonstrate knowledge of federal, state and local laws, policies and procedures in order to gainpliance, cooperation, and understanding Obtain and use evaluative findings, including student achievement data, to examine the effectiveness of instructional programs within assigned areas of supervision Demonstrate knowledge of principles and practices of school administration and of current educational trends; knowledge of methods, materials, procedures and practices in the field of instructional program administration Guide, direct and evaluate assistant superintendents in their roles of campus supervision so that staff and students reach their full potential Guide, direct and evaluate assigned administrators providing expectations for continuous improvement and ensuring responsive support to assigned stakeholders Provide guidance for assigned departments with developing appropriate strategic goals and objectives aligned with the District's overall strategic vision, mission, goals, and objectives, and provide support for achieving the goals Supervisory Responsibilities Carries out supervisory responsibilities for administrators of the assigned campuses in accordance with the District's policies and applicable laws Responsibilities include intering, hiring, and training employees Plan, assign and direct work Appraise performance of employees Reward and discipline employees Addressplaints and resolve problemsQualifications:
Master's degree in educational administration or a field appropriate to the assignment Doctorate degree preferred Valid Texas Mid-Management or Principal Certification or Superintendent Certification or out of state equivalent certification and the ability to obtain Texas Certification Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience Minimum of 5 years of experience in instructional leadership roles in a large school district Minimum of 5 years of experience at the district senior leadership level as principal, director, or above Significant experience as a senior district level leader in a large school district preferred Additional Information The position requires effective public speaking abilities. The position also requires considerable local and moderate distance travel and the ability to drive a car. The position requires working unusual hours, e.g., attendance at School Board meetings and other evening activities. The incumbent may be required to respond to unexpected events andmunications at any time or day, e.g., disasters such as fires, criminal actions, or other issues requiring immediate attention. The position is "high profile," and may be responsible for handling highly emotional or potentially dangerous individuals, as well as highly charged public situations such as iratemunity groups or the press.Salary Range:
