JOB DESCRIPTION
The Secondary Assistant Principal assists in creating conditions to ensure that all students acquire essential knowledge, skills and dispositions. In order to achieve this purpose, this document outlines the minimal competencies and characteristics that a candidate must develop. The Secondary Assistant Principal reports to the Secondary Principal.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Secondary Assistant Principal will have the following:
KNOWLEDGE
Candidates are expected to have an understanding in each of the following areas: Academic achievement Culture, climate and connection Professional capacity Community engagement Operations, facilities and resources Specific knowledge is needed in student and staff supervision, as well as addressing student misbehavior Actionable awareness of district policies, practices and procedures must be attained. SKILLS Candidates are expected to have competence in the following areas: Communication Collaboration Critical thinking Creativity Using district computer systems Time management
ABILITIES
Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances Work with and analyze data utilizing defined but different processes Operate equipment using standardized methods Work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups Independent problem solving to analyze issues and create action plans Maintain confidentiality Set priorities Work as part of a team Work with frequent interruptions Create a positive school climate for students, staff and community Motivate staff Adapt to changing work priorities
OTHER FUNCTIONS
Other duties as assigned. In-person daily attendance. Some travel may be required.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Be fingerprinted and clear a criminal background check.
Education:
Must have an Administrative certificate. Master's in Educational Leadership is preferred
Experience:
Education related experience is required. Teaching experience is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
•Not limited to the following: Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 30% walking and 20% standing. The job is performed under temperature variations depending on the season and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
