Term:
12-month at-will fellowship for the 2026-27 school year, designed to provide hands-on charter school leadership experience with the potential for transition into a future administrative role based on performance, organizational need, and mutual fit. Position Summary The Administrative Fellow is a mentored leadership residency designed to prepare emerging educational leaders for future school administration roles through guided, hands-on experience in charter school operations. The Fellow works alongside school administrators to observe, support, and gradually practice leadership responsibilities across multiple operational and instructional areas of the school. The role is intentionally developmental and rotational in nature and does not replace or duplicate the responsibilities of existing school administrators. The Fellow does not serve as the primary supervisor or final decision-maker in high-risk, evaluative, legal, or compliance-related matters. Existing administrative reporting structures remain unchanged. The Fellowship is designed to provide broad exposure to: school operations, instructional leadership, student support systems, family engagement, charter governance, and organizational leadership. Fellowship Structure The Administrative Fellow will rotate through major leadership systems throughout the school year under the guidance of the Executive Director and designated school administrators. The Fellow's responsibilities may include a combination of: observing leadership processes, supporting administrative initiatives, leading limited delegated projects, participating in meetings and systems work, and gradually assuming increased responsibility as appropriate. The Fellow is not a formal evaluator of licensed staff and does not independently supervise departments or personnel unless specifically assigned for a limited purpose by the Executive Director. Key Areas of Learning & ResponsibilitySchool Operations & Systems Assist with daily operational systems and school logistics Support arrival, dismissal, lunch, transitions, and supervision systems Learn attendance, enrollment, scheduling, and compliance processes Assist with schoolwide data tracking and analysis Support emergency drills and safety planning under supervision Participate in operational problem-solving and systems improvement Student Support & School Culture Support implementation of school culture and PBIS systems Assist with restorative conversations and low-level student behavior support Participate in Student Support Team meetings Learn student intervention systems and documentation processes Support student engagement and conflict resolution efforts Instructional Leadership Exposure Conduct informal classroom walkthroughs alongside administrators Assist with gathering and organizing instructional data Participate in Data Inquiry Teams and instructional discussions Support professional development planning and logistics Observe instructional coaching and teacher support systems Family & Community Engagement Support family communication and engagement initiatives Participate in parent meetings and conferences as appropriate Assist with school events and community outreach Observe formal conflict resolution and communication processes Respond to routine parent questions under administrative guidance Compliance & Governance Exposure Learn charter school compliance systems and timelines Observe board meetings and reporting processes Assist with documentation and reporting preparation Learn ethical, legal, and operational responsibilities of school leadership Observe budgetary and organizational planning discussions Specifically Excluded Duties For the protection of students, staff, and the Fellow, the Administrative Fellow may not serve as the final decision-maker in the following areas: Staff termination or contract non-renewal Formal teacher evaluations Legal determinations Special education or 504 eligibility decisions Mandatory reporting determinations Serious student disciplinary decisions Final personnel or compliance determinations The Fellow may observe or assist in these processes under administrative supervision as appropriate. All major decisions remain under the authority of the Executive Director and designated administrators.
