July 1, 2026 About DIA Dual Immersion Academy (DIA) is an accredited, tuition-free, public charter school providing bilingual education to students from preschool to 8th grade. DIA is located in the Glendale area, in the heart of Salt Lake City. Our vision is to create bilingual, biliterate scholars who understand the richness of living in a multi-cultural world. Students work with our world-class educators in our target language (Spanish) while continuing to build a solid foundation in English. Our teachers come from Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, and the United States. We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Principal-Educational Leader to lead our school community into its next chapter. This individual will succeed a long-standing, deeply respected leader and will have the opportunity to shape the future of bilingual education at DIA. Position Overview At DIA, our mission is to provide an academically rigorous curriculum in a supportive, nurturing environment, and to prepare students to become Spanish-English bilingual, bi-literate, and bicultural while developing the tools to be successful in higher education, the workforce, and in life The Principal serves as the instructional and academic leader of DIA. The role encompasses strategic planning, instructional leadership, staff supervision, community engagement, and compliance with state and federal educational standards. The Principal also serves as the Primary LEA for IEPs , supports bilingual academic programming, and champions the school's mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership Set and sustain a compelling vision for bilingual academic excellence Lead academic systems and intervention structures (Tier I & II) Lead teacher coaching, evaluation, and professional development Ensure fidelity to DLI instructional practices and curriculum adoption Analyze academic data and implement improvement plans School Operations & Compliance Manage substitute staffing, scheduling, and master calendar Lead school improvement planning (SIP), licensing compliance, and CACTUS updates Serve as LEA in IEP meetings and support 504 implementation Ensure compliance with School Trust Lands, accreditation, and grant requirements Student Behavior & School Culture Lead positive behavior support systems (PBIS/MTSS) in collaboration with the administrative team Oversee student discipline, interventions, and restorative practices in collaboration with the administrative team Coordinate social-emotional supports and behavior response teams in collaboration with the administrative team Community & Family Engagement Foster strong relationships with families, staff, and stakeholders Lead School Community Council, parent engagement events, and communications Respond to parental concerns with empathy and action Strategic Oversight Oversee hiring, onboarding, management and retention of faculty/staff Coordinate online programming and early learning plans Manage Spelling Bee, Maturation events, educational management systems, and conference planning Guide the school through annual assessments, LETRS training, and program evaluations in collaboration with the administrative team
Qualifications Required:
Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Dual Language Immersion or related field Experience in dual immersion or bilingual education settings Valid Utah Administrative License and/or Coaching endorsement Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken) Minimum 5 years of teaching experience Minimum 2 years of school leadership experience
Preferred:
