Immediately Job Description The Lincoln School District board is seeking an Interim Superintendent of Schools to serve from July 1, 2026 through June 20, 2027. Preferred candidates will demonstrate a deep understanding of current educational practices that support and advance Lincoln's vision: a world where education empowers all learners, strengthens a sense of belonging, and fosters a connection to community and place. Lincoln is a small supervisory district, comprising 210 students from Pre-Kindergarten to grade 12. The high-performing Lincoln Community School (LCS) is central to the community's identity. Situated on the banks of the New Haven River, the school's outdoor classrooms, active school garden, and access to extensive walking trails attest to the importance of community-based, experiential learning in its curriculum. Currently, 84 students attend LCS (grades K-6) and 89 students attend local secondary schools through Vermont's tuition/choice program, the majority at Mt. Abraham Union Middle and High School in the nearby town of Bristol. Most of our Pre-K students attend the Lincoln Cooperative Preschool. Supervisory services are located in a central office that shares building space with the community school. Thereby, the Superintendent has a unique opportunity to engage regularly with students, school staff, families, and supportive local community members.

THE LINCOLN COMMUNITY

The town of Lincoln is nestled at the foot of the Green Mountains in Addison County. It is a creative, vibrant, and neighborly community known for its natural beauty, hiking and biking trails, and easy access to cross-country and downhill skiing (Mad River Glen and Sugarbush). Lincoln has a modern library, a bustling General store, and a town hall that hosts frequent music events with local, national, and international artists.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's degree or above
• Licensed in Vermont as School Superintendent, on or before July 1, 2026
• Minimum of six years' experience in public education, with at least three years in Administration
• Successful experience with current educational practices related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment
• Thorough knowledge of public policy, federal & state requirements
• Experience with budgetary supervisory responsibilities and collective bargaining
• Compassionate, effective leadership and personnel management
• Demonstrated proactive communication and follow-through
• Grounded in respect for diverse views
• An approachable and caring educational mentor

POSITION TYPE

0.5 to 1.0 FTE, depending on availability and experience

START DATE

July 1, 2026.
