Job Description

Student Organization Coordinator (AY 26-27 900094) On-siteStudentPart time900094 Middlebury, Vermont, United States Description The Student Organization Coordinators work as a team within the Office of Student Engagement to provide administrative support to Middlebury's student organizations. This position incorporates peer leadership, budget management, and customer service to ensure the success of student organizations throughout the year. Each coordinator works directly with one or more thematic categories of student organizations. This is a Middlebury student Level B position paying $14.95 per hour.
Core Responsibilities:
Holds regular office hours in the Office of Student Engagement (roughly 6 hours a week) and attending a weekly student staff meeting Peer leadership and advising Serves as the primary point of contact for one or more org categories, and answers questions from student leaders regarding College, SGA, and OSE policies Coaches student org leaders through campus processes Facilitates regular touchpoints with student org leaders each semester Develops relevant expertise for a category in order to best serve individual organizations Conducts regular audits of student orgs to identify and respond to support needs Budget management Oversees the spending activity of one or more categories of student organizations Maintains detailed financial records in MiddPresence Reconciles purchases for student organizations Front desk & customer service Answers questions from students and anyone else who drops by the office in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner. Directs questions to appropriate campus resources and staff members when necessary Signs credit cards, storage keys, and ID swipers in and out Oversees online purchases Educates student leaders around spending policies and ensures they are followed Scans and organizes files and org records as needed Additional project based work as assigned, based on category, organization needs, and areas of interest Requirements Desired experience: Prior student organization involvement or other leadership role strongly desired Demonstrated reliability and sense of personal responsibility Candidates should be comfortable in a front desk role and capable of basic office tasks including answering phones, printing, and scanning Experience with MiddPresence, Microsoft Excel, and Google Sheets is preferred, but training will be provided. Willingness to learn these programs is required Desired qualifications: Candidates from all class years will be considered, preference will be given to rising Sophomores and Juniors A commitment to building community on campus and among student organizations is required. Candidates should be enthusiastic about building relationships with student organizations and student leaders A commitment to inclusive campus programming is required Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required Ability to learn, understand, and explain campus processes and policies Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and student leaders via email, phone, and in person Ideal candidates are self-starters who are able to take initiative Understanding of confidentiality and professional attitude
Student Employment Eligibility:
Unless restricted by certain visa status, all students with an active status for the semester are eligible for jobs on campus. Students on leave or withdrawn are not eligible to work in student employment positions until the semester in which they return. If you are currently withdrawn or on leave you are eligible to be employed in staff positions. Some may be restricted due to financial aid status. International students (non-resident aliens) may not work off campus unless they have applied for and received work authorization from the United States government. (An F-1 visa does not give work authorization.) Off campus work study positions are available only to U.S. citizens on financial aid with a federal work study component. Student are not eligible to work remotely from International locations.
Hour Limitations:
All student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours per week in on campus jobs during the academic year (this includes exam periods). The only exception is when there is a full week when school is not in session.
Specifically:
February recess, Spring recess, and full weeks of December or summer recess. During these time periods only, students can work up to 40 hours per week.
International Students:
Visa restrictions prohibit international students from exceeding 20 hours of work per academic calendar week.
