Director of Student Life, ECE-Elementary On-Site Full-Time, Exempt Reports to:
Head of School FTE:
1.0 (2/3 Administrative & 1/3 Teaching) Position Summary The Director of Student Life is a leadership role responsible for fostering a safe, inclusive, and joyful school community across IFS's Early Childhood and Elementary programs. As a member of the IFS administrative team, this role combines strategic leadership with direct classroom instruction — overseeing student safety, health and wellness, teaching assistant supervision, and regulatory compliance. This position is well-suited for an experienced, mission-driven educator who thrives in a collaborative, whole-child school environment. Key Responsibilities The Director of Student Life will: Champion student well-being, belonging, and a positive school climate across all program levels Develop and oversee programs and systems that support students' social-emotional development and behavioral expectations Maintain the student and family handbook in collaboration with school leadership Oversee all aspects of TA staffing, including recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and day-to-day supervision Conduct regular observations and performance evaluations of teaching assistants in collaboration with lead teachers and the Head of School Ensure all TAs complete required training, including mandated reporting, child development, behavior support, and health and safety protocols Monitor and ensure school-wide compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations Maintain student health records and respond to illness, injury, and daily health needs Oversee emergency preparedness, including drills, protocols, and first aid readiness Coordinate with families and healthcare providers regarding student health accommodations and care plans Teach assigned classes aligned with the candidate's area of expertise and IFS's programmatic needs (approximately 1/3 of overall load) Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School Qualifications The ideal candidate will bring: A Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field (Master's degree preferred) At least 3 years of classroom teaching experience in Early Childhood and/or Elementary Education Experience supervising paraprofessionals or teaching assistants Knowledge of child development principles and student health and safety compliance Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese; professional proficiency in English Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain prior to start Prior experience in a school leadership or coordinator role (preferred) Knowledge of early childhood licensing and regulatory compliance (preferred) Experience designing and delivering professional development for educational staff (preferred) A genuine commitment to whole-child development, joyful learning, and inclusive education To Apply Please submit your resume and cover letter to: recruitment@ifschool.org
Pay:
$80,168.00 - $87,000.00 per year
