Superintendent or Designee Position Summary:
The Assistant Principal for Early Learning and ECEAP provides leadership, supervision, and coordination for the district's Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program. The position ensures high-quality early learning instruction, compliance with Washington State ECEAP Performance Standards and DCYF licensing requirements, and effective partnerships with families and community organizations. The Assistant Principal promotes inclusive practices that support equitable access and meaningful participation for all children and families. Responsibilities Aligned to the
AWSP Principal Leadership Framework Key Responsibilities:
Visionary Leadership:
Support district early learning goals focused on kindergarten readiness and whole child development. Promote equitable access to high-quality preschool programming. Ensure early learning services align with district strategic priorities and state early learning expectations.
Instructional Leadership:
Support implementation of research-based early learning curriculum aligned with the Washington Early Learning and Development Guidelines. Monitor classroom quality and child outcomes using tools such as CLASS and Teaching Strategies GOLD. Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in instructional practice. Promote developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive, and inclusive early learning environments.
Collaborative Leadership:
Foster a collaborative professional culture among early learning staff. Facilitate collaboration among ECEAP staff, kindergarten teachers, special education teams, and early intervention partners. Support professional learning and shared problem-solving focused on improving outcomes for young learners.
Family and Community Engagement:
Promote strong partnerships with families consistent with ECEAP family engagement standards. Support Family Support Plans and family goal-setting processes. Communicate program expectations, opportunities, and outcomes with families and community partners. Collaborate with community organizations and service providers to support access to wraparound services.
Ethical and Culturally Responsive Leadership:
Promote inclusive practices that support students with disabilities and diverse learning needs within preschool settings. Ensure equitable access and culturally responsive learning environments for children and families. Model professional conduct and ethical decision-making.
Systems Leadership and Program Management:
Ensure compliance with ECEAP Performance Standards and DCYF licensing requirements. Oversee ERSEA processes, including eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, and attendance. Monitor documentation, screenings, child records, and family support plans. Coordinate preparation for monitoring visits, audits, and required reporting. Oversee implementation of comprehensive services, including health, nutrition, mental health, and family engagement.
Continuous Improvement:
Monitor enrollment targets, grant requirements, and program performance indicators. Lead program self-assessment and improvement planning. Use data to guide program development and instructional improvement.
Required Qualifications:
Valid Washington State Administrative Certificate Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate Successful teaching experience in early childhood or elementary education Knowledge of ECEAP Performance Standards and DCYF licensing requirements Demonstrated understanding of developmentally appropriate and inclusive preschool practices Preferred Qualifications Experience in ECEAP or Head Start programming Experience with ERSEA processes and compliance monitoring Special education endorsement or experience supporting inclusive preschool programs Leadership experience in an early learning setting

The 2025-26 base salary range for certificated admin staff in the Deer Park School District is between $121,949.00 - $141,372.00 per school year. Placement is based on degree and experience.
