Job Description

The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is looking for (3) students total to join our team. This is a temporary non-benefited student position. Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, this position performs customer service duties, including assisting with staffing the Diversity and Equity Center; answering questions; recording student suggestions; answering phone calls; checking the inventory of giveaways and office supplies for snacks; and ensuring the center is clean throughout the day. Additionally, these positions will help with closing procedures by ensuring the TV is turned off and the whiteboards are cleaned by the end of the day.
Note:
This position is limited to 12 hours per week, 8 at the welcome desk and the other 4 helping with programming and organizations. This position accrues 1 hour of non-compensable sick leave for every 40 hours worked. The position does not operate during finals week or between quarter breaks. This position also attends the Students of Color Conference, which is open to all. Help coordinate and facilitate one event per quarter based on your availability, you will be supported by the AD of DEI. Collaborate with the
ASLCC DEI
Director for one event per quarter. Assisting with set-up, facilitation, and breakdown of events hosted by the DEC (selection based on your availability) Maintaining all spaces within the DEC. Wipe the desks to the DEC. Answer phone calls. Turn off the TV at the end of the day. Work on Digital Slides for TV slideshows. Help answer student inquiries. Keep a stock of the refreshments in the center. Must be available Monday through Thursday. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
Be enrolled as a student at Lower Columbia College. The candidate must be self-disciplined, able to work independently, and be able to problem-solve as needed. Basic English language writing skills.
Computer Skills:
Basic use of a computer and computer-related equipment/software.

Successfully pass a background check. Following procedures and college-established guidelines, both in written and unwritten formats. This position requires you to stand for extended periods, lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
