Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide management and coordination of LAP/Title, District Assessment Coordinator, MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support), special education services in our in-person (brick and mortar) school. Provide administration assistance in the principal office (ASB, discipline, attendance, and etc.). Coverage for caseload if we go over capacity.
Essential Job Functions:
Have a thorough knowledge of federal programs (LAP/Title/High Cap/Special Ed/DAC) statutes and regulations and demonstrate successful experience and competencies to: Recommend policies and programs essential to the needs of exceptional students. Supervise, coordinate and dedicate the time needed to all student programs. Provide ongoing evaluation of existing programs and recommend necessary changes. Provide strong fiscal management in all areas of the student services budget. Provide support to student services staff relating to state and federal programs laws. Maintain close working relationships between student service programs and all staff; maintain close relationships with regional student services coordinators/directors through Olympic ESD 114. Support and plan for collaboration between all parties involved in the education of the student. Oversee student assessment and LAP/Title/High Cap/Special Ed/DAC processes. Serves as LEA (school district representative) in the majority of LAP/Title/High Cap/Special Ed/DAC meetings. Develop and manage grants related to student services (LAP/Title/High Cap/Special Ed/DAC). Provide appropriate staff development for all student services staff. Model a collaborative, teambuilding leadership style. Build trust and rapport with staff and community. Communicates with staff and parents in a clear and timely manner. Be familiar with technology and applications. Work closely with other administrators and delegate authority when appropriate. Compliant with all timelines to allow for staff meetings, staff input, collaboration, scheduling and planning. Supports the inclusion model for all our students. Plan and coordinate the Paraeducator Training programs. Complies with all district policies. Provide specific leadership in the following areas: Administration Student Services (LAP/Title/High Cap/Special Ed/DAC): Program planning and development Policy and procedure development Interpretation of laws and regulations Compliance monitoring and records management Program and services evaluation Monitoring LAP/Title/High Cap/Special Ed/DAC Process Budgeting Grant Writing Liaison with State and ESD for LAP/Title/High Cap/Special Ed/DAC Federal and State reporting Early Childhood Education Coordinate with instructional program development and instructional materials adoption processes LAP/Title/High Cap/Special Ed/DAC staff development Due process requests/hearings, OCR complaints and agreements, and Citizen Complaints process Oversee ASB and ASB advisors Assistance with running the building/main office Develop a MTSS plan for the building and implement systems for (LAP/Title/High Cap/Special Ed/DAC) Management LAP/Title/High Cap/Special Ed/DAC programs
Child Find Communications:
Parents; Staff; Administration LAP/Title/High Cap/Special Ed/DAC Process support Out-of-District placements and cooperative agreements Consulting support to principals and school staff Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Successful teaching experience in LAP/Title/High Cap/Special Ed/DAC or related area. Certification in LAP/Title/High Cap/Special Ed/DAC or appropriate related field preferred. Prior successful administrative or supervisory experience preferred. Successful experience in LAP/Title/High Cap/Special Ed/DAC/MTSS development. Prior experience in educational assessment and data analysis preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge of effective professional practices in teaching and learning with particular focus on special education. Demonstrated skills in organization, management, planning and evaluation of educational services. Demonstrated skills in teambuilding and collaborative problem solving. Outstanding skills in relationship building and demonstrated skills in working with staff, students, parents, and community groups. Understanding of the principles and practices associated with developing and nurturing learning organizations. Knowledge of Washington school reform initiatives. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
