Job Description:
City University of Seattle's Superintendent Certification Program is experiencing continued growth, and we are seeking experienced educational leaders to serve as Superintendent Internship Field Supervisors. Field Supervisors play a vital role in mentoring and supporting aspiring superintendents as they complete the internship requirements for Washington State Superintendent Certification. This position provides an opportunity for retired or current district leaders to support the development of the next generation of school system leadership.

•Internship III These courses engage superintendent candidates in mastering the entry-level knowledge, skills, dispositions, roles, and responsibilities of district leadership. The internship experience focuses on the foundations of school system administration, including: Organizational culture Teamwork and collaboration Problem-solving and decision-making Strategic and instructional leadership Systems thinking Community engagement Professional reflection and growth Candidates develop a certification portfolio using standards-based assessment data, evidence, and reflections aligned to professional leadership standards.
Job Summary:
Provides yearlong mentorship, guidance, accountability, and evaluation support for superintendent interns throughout the Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters. Field Supervisors may be assigned 1-6 interns per quarter depending on availability. Once assigned, the Field Supervisor remains with the intern throughout the full three-quarter internship sequence.
Essential Responsibilities:
Support superintendent interns through EDLD 681, 682, and 683 Meet quarterly with the intern and mentor (online or in person) to: Evaluate progress Review evidence and portfolio development Set goals and next steps Share leadership insights and guidance Check in with interns on a regular basis to provide coaching and support Review internship documentation, reflections, and standards-based evidence Help interns successfully complete all internship and certification requirements Verify completion of internship expectations and recommend candidates for certification Collaborate with CityU faculty and program leadership regarding intern progress and support needs
Job Requirements:
Ideal candidates will possess: Washington State Superintendent Certification Successful experience as a superintendent or senior district administrator Knowledge of the NELP standards Strong mentoring, coaching, and communication skills Commitment to developing future educational leaders Experience supporting equity-centered leadership and continuous improvement
