Principal Position Overview:
Barbour County Schools is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and visionary leader to serve as the Principal of Philippi Elementary School. The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep commitment to academic achievement, equity, student wellness, and school culture. The role requires strong instructional leadership, staff development, operational management, and community engagement.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid West Virginia Administrative Certificate endorsed as Principal PreK-Adult or PreK-5 Have at least three years of successful teaching experience. Minimum of three years of school-based leadership or administrative experience preferred. Knowledge of elementary school instructional programming, scheduling, and school operations. See attached

Performance Evaluation of School Personnel Job Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership Effective in communication, planning, organization, presentation and leadership skills. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of effective instructional strategies and research-based practices. Research and evaluation skills necessary to conduct needs assessment, analyze data and conduct program evaluation. Exhibits a professional attitude, appearance and demeanor. Displays proper management of resources including personnel, finance, and facilities. School Climate & Safety Familiarity with WV Safe Schools initiatives, emergency/crisis response protocols, and restorative discipline. Student Support and Equity Experience with or knowledge of Communities In Schools (CIS) or other wraparound service models Ability to be present, coordinate, and support extracurricular activities. Establish positive relationships with students, staff, and the community at large. Special education compliance, IEP team leadership, and Section 504 Continue to foster business and community partnerships and connections. Technology and Innovation Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Office Tools and Google Classroom Cybersecurity awareness and responsible technology use Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the superintendent and/or designee.
Additional Responsibilities:
Attend all required local, state, or out-of-state trainings as directed by the Superintendent or WVDE Participate in countywide leadership team and serve on relevant committees.

Salary:
Based on Barbour County Schools' Principal Salary Scale (reflective of certification, experience, and applicable principal supplements) per CBOE salary schedule plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation. (Funding source: State Aid and General Fund)
