Jr High Principal (7th and 8th grades)IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR

240 days annually, pursuant to WV Code §18-5-45;SALARY:
Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-2. In accordance with Mason County Teacher Salary Schedule, commensurate with experience and education level; based on administrative pay scaleEVALUATION
Performance in this position will be evaluated by the immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310.JOB SUMMARY
Provides instructional leadership and establishes a culture of high expectations for staff and studentsPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Exhibit enthusiasm in all areas of leadership Demonstrate cognitive skills to gather, analyze and synthesize information to reach established goals to increase student achievement Be responsible for the care and maintenance of school facilities and equipment Frequently monitor instruction by reviewing lesson plans and conducting walkthroughs in all classrooms Create an environment so all students can learn. Identify and monitor at risk students for target grade levels by analyzing achievement scores, benchmark tests and most recent progress reports of students to aid where necessary to improve student performance Monitor and provide direction for Professional Learning Communities Utilize technology resources to assess, remediate and support the core content areas Assist teachers in the selection of programs, delivery of instructional strategies and maintenance of records to meet the needs of all students Manage school finances by adhering to county and state policies and codes addressing school finance Promote positive parent relations through effective regular communication with parents Work with school counselors, student support services and the other agencies to improve student performance Provide guidance and direction of discipline to students in accordance with school, county and state regulations, and notify the Director of Special Education of disciplinary actions. Determine the eligibility of students for participation in extra-curricular activities at the secondary level. Supervise athletic and other extracurricular and co-curricular activities at the secondary level Monitor and report student attendance Implement the state and county testing program in accordance with the state and county policies Form master schedule Maintain professional work habits Maintain or upgrade professional skills Provide direction and support for the implementation for state standards Be responsible for the supervision and evaluation of professional, service, extracurricular and co-curricular personnel assigned to the school Provide guidance for tracking longitudinal data for student achievement Develop, implement and evaluate the strategic plan with input from all staff and stakeholders (school and district) Submit state and county reports in a timely fashion Implement school based sustained professional development, with input from staff, based on identified student academic needs Foster professional relationships and collegiality among staff members through planning, co-teaching and grade level team meetings Perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designeeQUALIFICATIONS
Successful teaching experience Valid Administration certification Proven curriculum and instruction leadership Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others to work effectively as a member of an educational team Effective written and oral communication skills necessary for maintaining effective relationships with the school community Demonstrates self-control Knowledge of WVEIS Evidence of successful administrative/leadership skills Proven commitment to student academic achievement Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a and §18A-2-9PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Most commonly, the educational setting is indoors with outdoor settings for recess and field trip activities. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate (20-60 dB).
