Job Summary:
EAST is 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant Funded summer program for STEM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). We strive to spark imagination and foster lifelong curiosity in the STEM fields by offering hands-on projects, field trips and enrichment explorations designed to engage students' connection to school and STEM careers. Evaluation shows that EAST contributes to our youth's interest in STEM, promotes connection to caring adults who serve as role models, reduces the achievement gap, and prepares students for 21st century work environments. EAST will serve 160 eligible students in 1st
  • 5th grades from several Title I feeder schools.
Salary:
$42.66/hour, (B+0 in accordance with the FEA negotiated agreement)

May 25, 2026, to June 25, 2026

Supervisor Job Qualifications/Requirements:
Valid State of Alaska Initial, Professional or Master teacher certificate with an elementary or middle school endorsement At least one year/one summer experience in a 21st CCLC grant funded program Ability to demonstrate high quality STEAM lesson/activity planning and implementation Ability to model scientific and design thinking skills Experience leading STEM and science-based hands-on activities Ability to collaborate with teaching team and supervisors Assist with implementation of the camp program Ability to work with students to maintain positive behaviors in the classroom setting Create and implement unique STEM-based programming for campers Be present and engaged at all activities and off site field trips One or more evening event may be required Early Literacy experience Physical and Mental Demands The physical demands of this position require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and hearing. Requires near vision to write and read printed materials and computer screens. Requires hearing and speaking to exchange information on the telephone or in person. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing up to 20 lbs. Must be able to use carts, ladders, dollies, and stools to assist in moving or shelving items. Requires sufficient arm, hand, finger dexterity to operate a keyboard and other office equipment. Repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers may also be required. Additionally, the employee must be able to communicate by oral and written means in an appropriate business manner and have cognitive skills to understand instructions, readily recall facts and details, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.
