Provides an educational program for identified special education pupils who have academic, neurological and/or cognitive problems which hinder progress in the regular classroom and who are placed in instructional groups on the basis of individual needs, as determined by the pupil's Individual Education Plan (IEP).Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides an appropriate individualized remedial education program which implements an IEP for each pupil in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations and procedures; with the goal of reducing the handicapping nature of the pupil's disability. Provides appropriate physical and psychological environment to establish and reinforce acceptable pupil behavior, attitudes, and social Develops student skills with the goal that the child will eventually be able to function independently in a regular Evaluates and monitors pupil progress and makes periodic reports on the achievement and personal adjustment of identified individuals with exceptional needs, in cooperation with the administration, support and teaching staff through the provision of appropriate pupil assessments. Provides consultation to staff members regarding the remedial processes and difficulties involved in instructing these Coordination of special education services with the regular school programs for each individual with exceptional needs enrolled in the resource specialist Confers with parents and professional staff members on each pupil's Participates in the assessment, planning and identification process for appropriate pupils through established procedure. Serves as a member of the Student Study Team (SST) as required. Maintains accurate attendance and other required Attends appropriate site, district and Special Education Plans for and coordinates activities of assigned Special Education Complies with District and school site policies and Implements Federal, State and local regulations relative to handicapped Maintains standards of professionalism and abide by the tenets of the State of California "Code of Ethics of the Teaching Profession". Other Duties and Responsibilities Operates flexibly within the school Provides in-service training when Recommends to appropriate staff committee or administrator various books, instructional aids, supplies and equipment which may be ordered for special education Keeps abreast of curriculum requirements for grades and subjects in all areas studied by pupils Seeks and uses new teaching techniques and special equipment adapted to the nature of disability of students. Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided and supported by the District and in other professional growth Maintains current knowledge of regulations and procedures related to programs and services for handicapped Other duties as assigned.PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
