ABOUT PILLARS ACADEMY
Pillars Academy is a private Islamic school established by the Orange County Islamic Foundation (OCIF) in the year 2000 serving children 3 months to six year old. Our focus is to provide a holistic approach to education by addressing the spiritual, academic, social, and emotional needs of a child. Our curriculum emphasizes curiosity, creativity and hands-on learning and stresses excellence in core academic subjects. Students are encouraged to be leaders and to strive to improve themselves, their families, their communities, and their environment. We embrace a philosophy of education that combines a nurturing, inclusive learning environment with an increasingly challenging academic program that addresses the developmental needs of each child
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Develop data-driven lesson plans and instructional materials on a weekly and unit basis to provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum needs of each student Establish and maintain standards of classroom behavior needed to provide an effective learning environment Demonstrate knowledge of the subject matter(s) and standards in which he or she teaches Work and collaborate with colleagues to work as a Professional Learning Community (PLC) to maximize student achievement Provide leadership for the school. Initiating proposals, expanding opportunities for the school to accomplish its goals, and inspiring others to work towards high standards Participate and shares in the responsibilities for school activities and participates in staff committees. Work cooperatively in measuring student growth; evaluate student academic and social growth; keep appropriate records; prepare progress reports and report cards; and communicate with parents as needed on the student's progress. Identify students' needs and cooperate with other professionals to assess and help students solve health, attitude, and learning and behavioral problems. Uses student progress data to design classroom instruction and instructional intervention Positively offer, receive and use constructive feedback Actively and productively contribute to professional development workshops Reflect on own teaching and actively engage in teacher development processes This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) incumbent in this position. EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, SKILLS
Possession of a Bachelor's degree and early childhood education courses preferred Must possess a valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential Ability to communicate ideas and instruction clearly and effectively both orally and in writing Ability to evaluate data, tests, and measurements of achievement Passion for working with children and their families Ability to work effectively as a team member Knowledge of the local community in which the students and their families live and work. It is vital that teachers have an understanding of the community to assist students in reaching their academic potential
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
: Regular requirement to stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, stoop, kneel and crouch Occasional evening and/or weekend work to attend Professional Development or School events
