Full Job Description First Grade Teacher Reports To:
Associate Head of School Salary Range:
$52,500 - $62,500 On-Site/In-Person Our private, independent school in San Diego is looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated First Grade Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate loves working with young children and creates a positive, engaging classroom where students can learn and grow. Responsibilities Plan and teach daily lessons that support student learning and development Create a safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom environment Monitor and assess student progress and share updates with parents Adjust teaching methods to support different learning styles and needs Work closely with colleagues, parents, and school leadership Supervise students during recess, lunch, and/or dismissal periods each week Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities Maintain accurate student records and follow school policies Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field required Teaching credential preferred At least 2 years of experience teaching First Grade preferred Targeted training in reading and literacy development preferred Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills Commitment to supporting all students and fostering an inclusive classroom community Physical Requirements Ability to move throughout the classroom and school campus during the school day Ability to occasionally lift and carry classroom materials or supplies weighing up to 25 pounds Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position Position Details Full-time position following the academic school year calendar Some evening or after-hours events may be required If you are passionate about helping young students learn and thrive, we encourage you to apply and become part of our school community.
