Full Job Description Description of Position:
Provides an education program in grades 1 - 6, or a combination thereof, and assists in other school programs as appropriate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Facilitates the pupil's learning of reading, language arts, science, social science, mathematics, art, health, physical education and music, utilizing courses of study adopted by the Board of Education; may teach a foreign language. 2. Guides pupils in the development of good citizenship, basic human relations, and provides opportunities for student leadership and initiative. 3. Provides planned learing experiences in order to motivate pupils to best utilize the available time for learning. 4. Plans instruction and uses materials that accommodate different learning styles and ability levels of children. 5. Establishes standards of pupil behavior beneficial to achieving a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. 6. Evaluates pupil's academic and social growth, prepares progress reports, and communicates with parents on the individual pupil's progress. 7. Encourages pupil creativity, personal development, and self-assesment. 8. Works with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, behavior and learning problems. 9. Selects appropriate books, instructional aids, and instructional supplies. 10. Administers group-standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs.
