The teacher expects excellence and ensures mastery of grade level and ensures mastery of grade level content and related skills. A high-structure environment is maintained for optimal student performance. In assuming full responsibility for student learning, a high level of academic rigor is established and maintained using careful scaffolding of lessons. The teacher kindles enthusiasm and inspires lifelong learning, engages the intellect, models character to students, and abides by Love and Logic principles. The teacher creates a positive, productive, and respectful classroom environment and a culture of inquiry and learning. Teacher embodies and models CSCA's Core Virtues. Major duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions) Demonstrates mastery of content area knowledge Demonstrates relevant pedagogical knowledge to teach academic subjects Conveys enthusiasm for tnd interest in content area to engage and inspire students Plans and prepares lessons Creates lessons based on the scope and sequence of Core Knowledge units Designs formal and informal assessments to accurately and regularly measure knowledge and understanding Delivers effective instruction of grade level content and related skills Communicates expectations clearly and provides regular and meaningful feedback to students and parents on academic progress, achievement and behavioral matters Monitors student achievement to ensure adequate progression towards course objectives and provides support as needed Supports the interventions and accommodations that have been developed for students Establishes and monitors a classroom environment centered around learning classroom environment Creates a positive classroom culture of high expectations and student engagement, and mutual respect Strives to motivate the development of strong work habits in students by modeling the same work ethic while maintaining integrity Implements Love and Logic principles in student discipline Meets professional expectations Is committed to and guided by CSCA's mission to "kindle enthusiasm to craft bold and effective citizen scholars" Displays a high level of ethics and professionalism in working with students, staff members, and parents and complies with school, school board and district policies. Willingly, effectively, and promptly implements instructional coaching suggestions Works collaboratively and with good judgement with other staff members and administration to improve student achievement Becomes adept to using PowerSchool to consistently record grades and attendance in a timely manner Continues to grow as an educator by attending internal and appropriate external professional development opportunities and meetings Demonstrates thoughtful reflection on own instructional practice Attaches high priority to the safety and welfare of students while on campus Supervision Received A teacher's direct report is the Academic Dean. Additional supervision is provided by the Head of School. Evaluations are completed as often as once a semester. Observations and walkthroughs occur frequently and randomly and may include observations by a non-supervisory instructional coach or mentor teacher.
Qualifications & Skills Education:
Bachelor's Degree in education or core subject area, or to be deemed in field (or in the process) according to Colorado Department of Education requirements (Colorado teaching license, 36 semester credit hours, or passing score on State Board of Education approved content exam).
Experience:
Experience working with K-3 students. Experience in charter, classical, and/or Core Knowledge schools preferred. Conditions of Employment All offers of employment are subject to a successful background check and reference check. Work hours are from 7:30am - 3:45pm M-F on most scheduled school days
