SALARY INFORMATION
Placement is based on a maximum of 15 years of experience, verified full time teaching (not substitute) experience and education. $47,000 - $70,174 (PhD) See salary schedule here , Salary will be prorated based on number of days worked. This is a temporary position, Candidates must have a Colorado substitute teaching certificate or Colorado teaching license.
Position :
Elementary Multi-age Crew Leader This elementary position is a multi-grade, multi-age classroom. The elementary Crew teacher will build a creative, innovative and a high performing, engaging elementary classroom experience. The teacher will work with elementary colleagues to create rich learning experiences. Rigorous academics and strong character/culture development will be enhanced with adventure education, fieldwork, and service-learning. All teachers are required to participate in coaching cycles, professional development, and as collaborative members of a small school staff. The NRCCS team offers robust and expansive programming for a school our size. Therefore, we work as a school team to provide appropriate and adequate support to both students and families. This requires staff members to be flexible and able to balance academic, SEL, and physical needs of K-8 students in a respectful and professional manner.
Primary Responsibilities:
The following are examples of primary duties assigned to the elementary Crew leader/teacher. Other related primary duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
Instruction:
  • Offering every child, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, socio-economic status, or home language, an opportunity to enter the curriculum at the child's own level.
  • Developing and implementing learning expeditions consistent with NRCCS principles and the Common Core State Standards.
  • Employing a range of effective instructional practices addressing various learning styles to give students the support they need to complete expeditions and meet learning benchmarks.
  • Developing and implementing a curriculum that is inquiry and project-based, utilizing views from multiple perspectives, purposeful fieldwork in the community, and service to others.
  • Creating a classroom culture where character is taught, modeled, and measured.
  • Working with students to showcase culminating projects and create student portfolios that clearly demonstrate achievement.
  • Providing students and families clear and instructive information about student progress.
  • Working with other staff to implement special service programs including Special Education programs.
  • Participating in student discipline and student-led conferences.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of student intervention plans.
  • Participating in the Outdoor Education and Wellness trips which require staff to lead groups of students on outdoor trips such as biking, hiking, snowshoeing and/or skiing.
You will be asked to lead a group where you are comfortable with the ability level.

  • Participating fully in professional development with other NRCCS teachers and Head of School.
  • Setting and actively pursuing professional as well as personal goals.
  • Continuing knowledge and implementation of current research based educational trends.
Essential Job Functions:
Decision Making:
An example of a typical decision made by an individual in this position is to interpret policies/procedures and best practice. An incorrect decision made by this position could impact the district legally causing financial condition of NRCCS to be affected. Errors made in decision-making could potentially result in substantial cost to the District or damage the credibility of the District.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond professionally to questions from groups of parents, community members, commissions, colleagues and the NRCCS Board of Education.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, discounts, commissions, proportions, percentage, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, and geometry
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract concrete variables. Ability to analyze and use data to supervise the delivery of instruction and the school improvement process.
Technology Skills:
Proficient use of technology which includes: basic operations and concepts, word processing, spreadsheets, internet usage, critical evaluation of information, data analysis, email, integration of technology.
Other Skills And Abilities:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in education. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to copy, coordinate, instruct, evaluate and negotiate. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to discipline students consistent with district procedures. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee must lift items weighing 50 pounds from floor level to an elevation of four feet. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
