Early Childhood Academy Public Charter School (ECA), located in the Washington Highlands neighborhood of Ward 8, has implemented a high-quality prekindergarten through grade 3 program since its opening in 2005. ECA has been accredited since 2014 by the Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools. Early Childhood Academy PCS is seeking smart, committed, and passionate prekindergarten through third grade teachers to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. ECA teachers embrace opportunities for continued professional growth and development and believe in a collaborative approach toward ensuring that our students excel academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. Responsibilities of Lead Teachers ECA utilizes the Charlotte Danielson Framework for Teaching in supporting and evaluating its teaching staff.
Teachers must demonstrate proficiency in:
Planning and Preparation ECA teachers demonstrate knowledge of the content, pedagogy, and developmentally appropriate practices for the age and grade level; plan effective instructional activities and aligned assessments; and demonstrate understanding of the needs of all students, including advanced learners, strugglers and students with disabilities. Creating a Classroom Environment ECA teachers create a classroom culture that promotes respect and rapport in teacher-to-student and student-to-student interactions; establish a culture for learning; monitor and manage classroom procedures, transitions, routines, and student behavior to support and maintain a productive and peaceful learning environment. Instruction ECA teachers demonstrate skill in communicating expectations for learning; implement high-quality questioning and discussion techniques; identify resources and develop activities and assignments that foster understanding of skills and concepts; and utilize assessment data to inform and guide instructional delivery. Professional Responsibilities ECA teachers reflect on teaching practices individually and collaboratively; maintain ongoing communication with parents and families; participate in the school's professional learning communities; seek out opportunities to continue their own growth and development as educators; and demonstrate integrity and ethical conduct in interactions with administrators, colleagues, students, and families. Requirements Candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. An educational background in early childhood or elementary education and experience working with young children is preferred. Salary is commensurate with educational background and experience.
