Duties Develop and implement comprehensive English curricula aligned with educational standards, including AP style and standardized testing requirements Design engaging lesson plans that incorporate creative writing, literacy education, and research skills to enhance student learning experiences Facilitate classroom instruction that promotes active participation, critical thinking, and effective communication among students Utilize learning technology tools to create interactive lessons and support diverse learning styles Mentor students through academic advising, tutoring sessions, and behavior management strategies to foster a positive classroom environment Conduct assessments such as essays, quizzes, and standardized tests; provide timely feedback to support student progress Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum design, instructional strategies, and school-wide initiatives to improve educational outcomes Incorporate elements of linguistics, Chicago Manual of Style standards, and library services into lesson content for a well-rounded literary education Skills Strong proficiency in curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional design tailored for middle and high school levels Excellent writing skills with expertise in creative writing, copy editing, proofreading, and journalism principles Knowledge of AP style, Chicago Manual of Style, and standardized testing procedures Experience working with students with diverse needs including special education or Montessori approaches is a plus Effective classroom management skills combined with organizational skills to maintain an engaging learning environment Familiarity with learning technology platforms and digital tools used in modern education settings Demonstrated ability to mentor students academically and behaviorally while fostering a supportive classroom atmosphere Strong communication skills for collaboration with colleagues, parents, and administration; adept at research and instructional adaptation based on student needs Embark on a rewarding journey as an English educator committed to empowering students through literature, language mastery, and critical thinking.
