Genesis Innovation Academy for Girls
DESCRIPTION
We seek teachers who are proactive learners and problem solvers, who are committed to excellence from scholars and themselves, and who believe that teaching is a calling and not a job. All instruction should help young scholars become critical thinkers and innovative problem solvers. Play and movement will be learning tools. Elementary Teachers in grades K-1 who teach all primary grades content areas. Elementary Teachers in grades 2-5 teach in one of two major subject areas: ELA-Reading and STEM Reading-ELA focused teachers will plan to develop scholars' understanding of themselves and their world through analysis of age-appropriate books/literature, art, and music. Reading skills will be developed by inspiring a love of books and by using best practice reading strategies. Instruction should help scholars develop into persuasive and compelling thinkers, writers, and speakers. STEM-focused teachers will create instructional plans that inspire learning by facilitating investigation and discovery in science and math, and when appropriate, technology and engineering. Single-Gender Instruction - Genesis has a single-gender model. Teachers may apply to either the Boys or the Girls Academy or may be placed in the Academy that is deemed the best fit.
GIRLS' ACADEMY
teachers should be committed to creating an environment in which our girls can become the empowered, accomplished young women they were meant to be.
BOYS' ACADEMY
teachers should appreciate the energy of elementary school boys, and be committed to helping develop strong, scholarly young men of character and discipline.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree OR Certification in Early Elementary Education or a core subject Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills The Genesis Commitment to Faculty We view faculty as professionals, fully capable of effective planning, instruction, and class management. Genesis commits to individualized support and coaching for teachers. We prioritize small-classes, and respectful scholar-peer and scholar-faculty interaction in support of teaching and learning.
