Job Description
Elementary Gifted Teacher Job Overview Utopian Academy for the Arts is seeking a dedicated and passionate Gifted Teacher to provide differentiated instruction and enrichment opportunities for students identified as gifted and talented. The ideal candidate will create an engaging and challenging learning environment that nurtures critical thinking, creativity, and academic excellence. This position reports to the principal. Key Role Responsibilities Design and implement a rigorous, differentiated curriculum that meets the needs of gifted students. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to promote higher-order thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. Foster an engaging and supportive classroom environment that encourages intellectual curiosity and student-led learning. Integrate arts-infused learning strategies that align with Utopian Academy for the Arts' mission. Assess and modify lessons based on student progress and individual needs. Identify and nurture individual talents while fostering academic and personal growth. Provide students with independent learning opportunities, projects, and enrichment activities. Encourage collaborative learning experiences that promote leadership and teamwork among gifted students. Support students in competitions, showcases, and other enrichment opportunities. Utilize formative and summative assessments to track student progress. Maintain accurate records and communicate progress to students, parents, and administrators. Use data to inform instructional decisions and ensure continuous improvement. Work closely with classroom teachers, administrators, and support staff to develop individualized learning plans. Provide guidance and resources to colleagues for differentiating instruction for gifted students in general education classrooms. Stay current with best practices in gifted education through professional development and training. Engage in ongoing collaboration with parents to support student learning and development. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Gifted Education, or a related field. Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Gifted Education (REQUIRED). Proven experience working with gifted students in a school setting. Strong knowledge of differentiated instruction, curriculum compacting, and inquiry-based learning. Ability to integrate technology, arts, and project-based learning into the curriculum. Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated communication skills Model correct use of language - oral and written; Demonstrated willingness to be held accountable for students' results. Ability to work with diverse high school children. Ability to be flexible and to work in a pleasant and cooperative manner Ability to work effectively as a team member; Possess a high degree of professionalism and discretion; Knowledge of school safety & security procedures Excellent writing and communication skills Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
