Utopian Academy for the Arts Elementary School is a premier performing arts school in Clayton County, GA. Our school has entertainment industry partnerships and a rich curriculum that supports the growth and development of the whole child as an artist, a leader, and a life - long learner. In fact, we refer to our students as scholars, and have high expectations for their behavior and progress in the classroom. Industry partnerships include the Alliance Theatre, the Atlanta Ballet, Atlanta Music Project, KidNation, and Trilith Studios. Utopian Academy at Trilith is an arts-based public charter middle school, serving scholars in grades 6th-8th with a statewide attendance zone. As Georgia's only tuition-free public charter high school with a fully integrated arts curriculum, we empower scholars to thrive academically, artistically, and professionally. Position Overview We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Primary Grades teacher to join our team, a forward-thinking institution committed to providing students with a rigorous and engaging education. The ideal candidate is responsible for delivering rigorous, engaging, and developmentally appropriate instruction in Kindergarten, 1st, or 2nd grade. The teacher will build foundational literacy and numeracy skills, foster a positive classroom community, and partner with families and colleagues to ensure every student reaches their full potential. This position reports to the School Principal and requires on-site presence at the school building. Instruction & Curriculum Plan and deliver daily lessons aligned to Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) and the school's adopted curriculum frameworks. Use research-based instructional strategies including differentiated instruction, guided reading/math groups, and phonics-based literacy programs. Integrate technology tools to support learning and family communication. Implement Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) practices and Positive Behavioral Interventions Assessment & Data Administer and analyze formative and summative assessments Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate results clearly to families during conferences and written reports. Participate in regular data meetings and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to adjust instruction based on student outcomes. Classroom Management & Culture Establish and maintain a structured, nurturing classroom environment with clear routines, high expectations, and consistent procedures. Foster an inclusive classroom community that honors student diversity and promotes a growth mindset. Address student behavioral needs proactively and in alignment with the school's PBIS and restorative practices model. Family & Community Engagement Build trusting relationships with families through regular communication, parent nights, and home-school partnerships. Respond to family inquiries promptly and professionally via school communication platforms. Participate in school-wide events, family engagement activities, and community outreach initiatives. Professional Responsibilities Attend and actively contribute to professional development, grade-level meetings, and staff collaborations. Comply with all Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) requirements, charter school policies, and applicable federal/state regulations. Complete all required documentation including IEP accommodations, 504 plans, and EL support plans in coordination with specialists. Model professionalism, collegiality, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Qualifications Minimum of SRT4-Certification in Elementary Education (P-5); OR Passed the GACE Elementary Education assessment AND completion of the GACE Ethics Assessment for Teachers Knowledge of Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) for K-2 literacy and mathematics. Preferred 2+ years of classroom experience in a K-2 setting, preferably in an urban or high-need school. Master's degree or graduate coursework in education. Education Bachelor's Degree required with at least a 2.5 GPA Work Experience Work experience gained through education and certification/license requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated communication skills Model correct use of language - oral and written; Demonstrated willingness to be held accountable for students' results. Ability to work with diverse high school children. Ability to be flexible and to work in a pleasant and cooperative manner Ability to work effectively as a team member; Possess a high degree of professionalism and discretion; Knowledge of school safety & security procedures Excellent writing and communication skills Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
