POSITION SUMMARY
Instructs Gifted students. May be designated according to subject matter/content specialty. Utilizes current strategies and theories to plan and implement lessons. This position reports to the Principal.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach and facilitate rigorous, relevant gifted units; provide differentiated instruction aligned with best practices and curriculum guidelines. Incorporate talent development opportunities for students exceeding expectations; provide critical, creative, and complex problem-solving experiences across subject areas. Analyze student data to identify strengths and growth areas; monitor progress through formal and informal assessments; administer gifted assessments and maintain required documentation. Implement a proactive and consistent classroom management system; participate in professional development workshops and ongoing learning opportunities. All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree or higher required. Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience preferred. Makes recommendations or decisions that usually affect the entire department/school. Certification by the State of Georgia in Early Childhood Education T-4 to T-7 as required by the GaPSC. Field(s)/Endorsement(s):
GIFTED IN-FIELD ENDORSEMENT
Varied; supervisor is available to review established broad objectives; independent judgment is required. Requires regular, frequent communication with internal school administrative personnel. Requires regular, frequent communication with different constituencies: external agencies, parents, community etc. Excellent classroom management required. May be designated as a lead teacher or trainer. Applies, recommends and implements technology to improve the effectiveness of school operations. Constant (Daily) - to exercise the duty of care and protection of the health, safety, security, welfare, well-being, and best interests of the district's various stakeholders. Normal classroom/school setting. Must be able to stand and walk approximately seven (7) to seven and one-half (7½) hours per day. Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. Light lifting or carrying; twenty (20) lbs. or less.
