4.18 Elementary Digital Learning Teacher Purpose Statement The position of Elementary Digital Learning Teacher was established for the purpose of designing, implementing, and evaluating a school library program at the assigned building. This position will also ensure that technology related to the district's digital learning program (Chromebooks, tablets, and other equipment) is fully utilized to support students. The role of teacher also provides support for developing students' success in academics, interpersonal skills, developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines: collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.Job Title:

Current Iowa license in elementary education Knowledge of technology literacy skills including digital citizenship, computer science (coding), and information literacyPreferred Qualifications:
Background in educational technology or similar technology leadership experience Successful experience teaching technology classes at the K-5 level Experience with computers, Chromebooks, iPads, and Google for Education Essential Functions Design, deliver, and evaluate a K-5 digital learning curriculum focusing on 21st century technology literacy standards as defined by the Iowa Core. The curriculum will be taught as part of the elementary specials rotation and, when appropriate and possible, in conjunction with classroom learning activities. Assist with district curriculum development by participating in team planning and teaching, serving as a classroom resource person, and providing instructional materials support. Promote and assist staff and students in the use of a variety of print, non-print, and digital resources. Promote and support the appropriate use of technology by students and teachers, including digital citizenship skills. Promote digital learning opportunities to administrators, staff, students, families, and other stakeholders. Provide instructional support for and assistance with all facets of the research process. Support instruction for diverse learning abilities, styles, and needs and model and promote effective and creative teaching strategies. Help students become independent users of information. Provide professional development support to teachers on emerging technologies, technology integration, and digital resources. Communicate with building principals and Academic Services regarding successes and concerns surrounding the district's digital learning program. Support the implementation of a comprehensive school library program in collaboration with the district's digital learning teacher librarians and as directed by the building principal. The usual and customary methods of performing the position functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, reaching, driving, standing and walking. Working conditions may include extreme temperatures and humidity. Hazards may include exposure to communicable diseases. This position requires one to maintain emotional control under stress. Supervision Supervises teacher associates and volunteers as assigned. Responsibility Responsibilities include working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform position functions. There is some opportunity to significantly impact the organization's services.
