Holy Cross Lutheran School is seeking a full-time teacher for a 4th Grade self-contained classroom. The candidate should have a degree in elementary education and a valid teaching license in the state of Indiana.Qualifications:
Full-time teachers will normally be a graduate of a synodical school. Since there may be times when an acceptable synodically certified teacher may not be available, a Lutheran lay teacher may be employed and encouraged to pursue continuing education in Lutheran doctrine and may require the colloquy program. 1) Hold a Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution. 2) Certified by the State of Indiana or is able to meet standards for such certification. 3) Licensed in subject teaching area if teaching a specialized subject. 4) Possess relevant teaching or education experience (if new grad). 5) Knowledgeable of relevant technology. 6) Exhibit physical and emotional ability to perform the responsibilities and essential functions of the job. 7) Able to articulate the objectives of the Lutheran School; evidence love for teaching children. 8) Demonstrate a strong passion and commitment to uphold the vision, mission, educational objectives, statement of faith, doctrine and core values of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and School.Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Academic Instruct children in all subjects from a Christian worldview perspective. Develop schemes of work and lesson plans. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities. Use relevant technology to support instruction. Observe and evaluate each student's performance and development. Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students. Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development. Update all necessary records accurately and completely. Prepare required reports on students and activities. Behavioral Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences. Prepare classroom for class activities. Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment. Provide appropriate feedback on work. Manage student behavior in the classroom with Christian discipline by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures. Professional Show interest in the total ministry and is visible in congregational activities. Perform certain spiritual care duties including student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement. Participate in department and school meetings as well as parent meetings. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student academic, physical, spiritual and emotional progress. Keep updated with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.Available at school as needed:
o Two weeks prior to the first day of school until one week following the last day of school. o Daily (M-F) 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. unless arrangements have been made with the principal. o Faculty, pre-school, post-school, conferences/workshops and parent-teacher meetings.
