Lead Teachers at IHC-ECC must possess the following requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in related area, elementary education, early childcare education certification, psychology, social work
  • Available to work 5 days a week from 7:30 am to 3:15 pm.
  • Available for occasional evening events including but not limited to:
  • Staff meetings
  • Back to School Night
  • Training
  • Art Fair Lead Teachers will be expected to:
  • Arrive promptly at scheduled times
  • Prepare lesson plans and activities that adhere to the academic curriculum
  • Provide substitute plans for absences
  • Plan activities that are age appropriate and engaging
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills; day to day contact with others (co-workers and parents)
  • Feature Jewish education prominently both in planned activities and daily classroom routine
  • Attend "specials" classes with students and assist with class management by modeling good listening skills and reinforce enrichment lessons in the classroom
  • Model desirable behavior to students
  • Maintain professional and courteous conduct with parents and Temple personnel
  • Make communication with Director a priority (including time off)
  • Be prepared before the start of the school day
  • Compose newsletters to parents weekly (Written daily communication in some classrooms required)
  • Work well with classroom assistants and volunteers, planning specific duties to maximize their time and skills
  • Additional duties as assigned/deemed necessary by immediate supervisor (
Ex:
cleanup after a child's accident or sickness)
  • Job requires daily lifting, pushing/pulling, kneeling, bending/stopping, squatting/crouching, balance and coordination holding children
  • Be flexible!
Lead Teachers will be provided:
  • Adequate supplies, resources and materials
  • Training
  • Planning time at work is during nap/quiet time
  • Adequate break time during the day
  • Access to resources such as internet, idea books, etc.
Continuity and preparedness are crucial to effectively leading a classroom. Regular attendance and timely planning are expected. Teaming up with other teachers when planning is often helpful and is strongly encouraged. Regular attendance and timely arrival are expected. The IHC Early Childhood Center (ECC) is committed to giving toddlers through kindergartners varied and rich opportunities for growth and development.
