The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for students. This role involves developing engaging lesson plans, implementing effective teaching strategies, and supporting students in their academic growth. The Mathematics Teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the overall success of the school community. Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and promote student engagement in mathematics. Utilize various teaching methods and learning technologies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities. Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a safe and productive learning environment. Provide individualized support and tutoring to students who may need additional assistance in understanding mathematical concepts. Assess student progress through standardized testing, assignments, and classroom participation, providing feedback to students and parents as necessary. Collaborate with special education staff to support students with diverse learning needs, including those on the autism spectrum. Participate in curriculum development initiatives, contributing ideas for enhancing mathematics education within the school. Mentor students in their academic pursuits, fostering a love for learning and encouraging critical thinking skills. Engage in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and advancements in mathematics education. Skills Strong proficiency in mathematics with the ability to teach various levels of math concepts. Excellent communication skills for effectively conveying information to students, parents, and colleagues. Experience working with children, including early childhood education and childhood development knowledge. Classroom management skills that promote a respectful and focused learning environment. Familiarity with literacy education principles as they relate to mathematical understanding. Proficient writing skills for creating lesson plans, assessments, and educational materials. Experience in tutoring or mentoring students in academic settings. Knowledge of library services that can enhance student learning experiences. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across disciplines, including physical education teachers. Understanding of behavior management techniques that support positive student interactions. Experience with Montessori methods or other alternative education approaches is a plus. Background in education administration or early intervention strategies is beneficial.
