Key Requirements and Qualifications Certification:

Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate in Dance, Performing Arts, or appropriate certification area in accordance with Louisiana Department of Education guidelines (Bulletin 746).

Education:

Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Dance, Fine Arts, Arts Education, or a related field.

Experience:

Prior teaching or professional dance experience is preferred, particularly at the elementary level.

Content Knowledge:

Knowledge of dance techniques, choreography, performance, and age-appropriate instruction; understanding of arts integration and the ability to support a magnet or specialized arts curriculum.

Skills:

Strong classroom management; ability to plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate dance instruction; ability to choreograph and direct student performances; strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to foster creativity, expression, and confidence in students; and ability to support school performances and events.
