Sep 1, 2026 Job Description About POTA Lower School Cambridge Preschool of the Arts is launching an exciting new chapter with the opening of the POTA Lower School in Fall 2026, beginning with a /Kindergarten program and expanding to a full K-5 program in Fall 2027. Rooted in POTA's longstanding commitments to whole-child learning, deep relationships, and joyful exploration, the Lower School will extend our mission of academic excellence and vibrant, inclusive Jewish education into the elementary years. Our new campus in Inman Square is being intentionally designed to support innovative, interdisciplinary learning, with dedicated spaces for STEM, the arts, and project-based inquiry. With access to a full gym, outdoor classrooms, and a state-of-the-art maker space—and situated in the heart of Cambridge—students will engage in rich, place-based learning experiences that connect them to the broader community. As part of our founding team you will have the unique opportunity to help shape a dynamic and forward-thinking educational environment grounded in curiosity, connection, and purpose. Position Overview POTA Lower School is seeking a passionate and reflective Kindergarten Teacher to join our founding faculty. This educator will play a key role in building a joyful, nurturing, and intellectually engaging classroom community where children feel known, valued, and inspired to learn. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of early childhood and elementary education, a commitment to whole-child development, and an openness to integrating Jewish values and traditions into daily classroom life in meaningful and inclusive ways. Key Responsibilities Design and implement a developmentally appropriate, inquiry-based curriculum that fosters curiosity, creativity, and foundational academic skills Create a warm, inclusive classroom environment that supports students' social, emotional, and cognitive growth Integrate interdisciplinary learning, including early STEM and arts experiences, into classroom practice Support students in developing strong relationships, self-awareness, and a sense of belonging Collaborate closely with colleagues to build and refine the Lower School program Partner with families through regular communication, conferences, and community engagement Incorporate Jewish values, culture, and traditions into classroom experiences in a way that is accessible and meaningful to all students Utilize outdoor spaces and the surrounding Cambridge community to support experiential and place-based learning Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education preferred At least 2-3 years of teaching experience in early childhood or elementary settings Strong understanding of child development and progressive, student-centered pedagogy Experience with project-based or inquiry-driven learning preferred Interest in or experience with Jewish education and/or comfort engaging with Jewish life and culture Collaborative, reflective, and growth-oriented mindset Excellent communication and relationship-building skills What Makes This Role Special Opportunity to join a founding team and help shape a new Lower School from the ground up Work in a mission-driven environment that prioritizes joy, curiosity, and belonging Access to thoughtfully designed learning spaces, including a maker space and outdoor classrooms Deep collaboration with a passionate and visionary leadership team Strong community support and investment in the school's long-term success How to Apply Interested candidates should submit a resume and cover letter to esther@cambridgepreschool.org
