Reports To:
Building Principal Position Overview Swampscott Public Schools is seeking an exceptional Grade 5 Teacher to join our dedicated community of learners and leaders. This role is designed for a highly qualified educator ready to bridge the transition into a Middle School environment by fostering academic excellence and personal growth. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing high-quality, standards-aligned instruction that meets the diverse needs of all learners within an inclusive environment. Because our students and colleagues rely on a stable and predictable learning environment, punctuality and consistent, reliable attendance are essential to the success of this role. Guided by the district's C.O.R.E. values—Community, Opportunity, Respect, and Equity—you will foster a safe, respectful classroom culture, engage in continuous professional reflection, and collaborate with families and staff to ensure every student is prepared for success in college, career, and citizenship. Essential Functions Instructional Leadership & Data-Driven Practice
Rigorous Curriculum:
Design and execute rigorous, standards-based units that leverage formative assessment and differentiation to meet the needs of every learner.
Pedagogical Excellence:
Utilize varied techniques to challenge and motivate students, ensuring equitable participation and the application of prior knowledge to new content.
Data Analysis:
Frequently review assessments to pinpoint learning gaps and mastery levels; design and adjust dynamic small groups based on real-time student data.
Tiered Instruction:
Create tiered lessons to challenge advanced learners and provide targeted support for those needing intervention.
Critical Feedback:
Provide immediate, analytical feedback that encourages students to think critically and take ownership of their academic journey. Classroom Culture & Inclusion

Maintain a safe, organized learning environment rooted in mutual respect, student choice, and collaborative inquiry.
Equity & Diversity:
Actively honor the diverse backgrounds and identities of all students, creating a space where every child feels valued.

Professional Reliability:
Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality to ensure instructional continuity and the effective supervision and safety of all students. Job Requirements
Licensure:
Current Massachusetts Elementary Certification (Grades 1-6).
Education:
Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
SEI Endorsement:
Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) endorsement required.
Experience:
Three (3) years of classroom teaching experience is preferred.
Compliance:
Successful completion of a Massachusetts CORI and fingerprint-based national criminal background check. Stamina & Mobility:

Talking or hearing in person and by telephone. Specific vision abilities include close/distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Environment:
