Elementary Guide (Teacher) Odyssey FM Moorhead, MN Job Details Full-time $18 - $24 an hour 17 hours ago Qualifications Bachelor's degree Montessori Preschool experience Student-centered approaches (student motivation techniques) Full Job Description Job Summary Full-Time Elementary Guide Odyssey FM is looking for a dependable, growth-minded Guide to join our learner-centered microschool in the Fargo-Moorhead area starting in mid-August . We are not looking for a traditional teacher who wants to lecture from the front of the room all day. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with children, believes young people are capable of more than adults often assume, and is excited by a Montessori-inspired, hands-on, mastery-based learning environment. This role is a great fit for someone who is calm, reliable, curious, and willing to learn. About Odyssey FM Odyssey FM is a small, learner-driven school inspired by Montessori, Acton Academy, mastery learning, project-based learning, and real-world skill development. Learners work toward independence through goal setting, hands-on challenges, Socratic discussions, reading, math, collaborative projects, outdoor play, and meaningful studio responsibilities. Our goal is to help children become independent, curious, kind, capable, and confident. What We're Looking For The right person does not need to have every answer on day one. We care most about character, reliability, coachability, and potential. A strong candidate is someone who: Shows up consistently and on time Enjoys working with children Stays calm and steady when kids are frustrated, silly, emotional, or off-task Believes children can take ownership of their learning Is willing to learn our systems and follow through with them Can guide without micromanaging Is comfortable asking questions instead of simply giving answers Appreciates Montessori-style independence, hands-on learning, and child development Communicates clearly with the Odyssey FM team Wants to grow into a meaningful role over time Montessori, Acton Academy, homeschool, microschool, childcare, tutoring, camp, or classroom experience is helpful, but not required.
Responsibilities Responsibilities may include:
Supporting learners during independent work time Helping maintain a calm, focused, respectful studio environment Assisting with reading, math, writing, projects, and hands-on learning Leading or supporting launches, discussions, challenges, or small-group activities Helping learners set goals and reflect on their progress Encouraging independence rather than doing the work for children Supervising outdoor play, lunch, transitions, and studio maintenance Preparing materials and helping keep the environment organized Modeling kindness, curiosity, responsibility, and a growth mindset
