ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
The mission of The Freedom School is to provide a safe, nurturing, learning community where students of different beliefs, races, ethnicities, and economic circumstances are reconciled to God and one another by experiencing forgiveness by grace through faith in Jesus Christ…without regard for ability to pay.

We are a private, urban, Christian mission school (Pre-Kindergarten - 6th Grade). Our Class sizes range between 12 and 18 students. Teacher/Student Ratio is 1:15.

SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTION
/ Demonstrate the competencies needed to support students' academic, spiritual & social/emotional learning. This includes helping students become fully prepared to matriculate to middle school by the end of the school year. Embrace and model the school's core values found in our PEARLS (Perseverance, Excellence, Academics, Reconciliation, and Love).
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
/ Duties include but are not limited to: Creates a classroom culture that instills a sense of respect and discipline, so that children work effectively in a classroom setting. Supervising children outside of class time, such as during lunch and on the playground. Making sure that the classroom is clean, safe, and well-organized. Develops daily and long-range lesson and activity planning. Demonstrates mastery of related subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materials for courses taught Creates lesson plans, aligned with grade standards, which drive instruction through formative assessment and differentiation Maintains a safe, organized classroom which supports students' independent and collaborative learning. Effectively applies restorative disciplinary practices. Daily lunch or recess duty Presents chapel devotion for 3rd through 6th graders twice monthly. Uses assessments to inform planning and instruction Provides consistent, immediate feedback to student learning and sends a weekly newsletter to parents to keep them informed of student progress Monitors and maintains a positive classroom environment that supports the school-wide behavior expectations. Willing to attend and participate in staff meetings and extra-curricular/school-related activities Demonstrates a commitment to continuous professional growth and works with administrators & other resources Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor consistent with the school's staff handbook
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Knowledge and application of teaching strategies and methods that demonstrate best practice Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, students, parents, the general public, and others having business with the school Uses computers, projectors/smart boards, and other technology to enhance the students' learning experiences.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to pass an initial fingerprint and background clearance check Teacher certification with the state of Missouri or an appropriate short-term plan May be required to lift supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds. May be required to work outside normal working hours for school-related programming.
