Anticipated Opening for the 2026-27 School Year Wolcott Street School is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Elementary Teacher to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will foster a positive learning environment, deliver engaging instruction aligned with New York State Learning Standards, and support the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth of all students.
Essential Responsibilities:
Instruction and Curriculum:
Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned with district curriculum and New York State Learning Standards. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technologies to engage learners. Assess student progress regularly and use data to inform instructional decisions. Maintain accurate records of student achievement and communicate progress with students and families.
Classroom Environment:
Establish and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment. Promote a culture of respect, responsibility, and high expectations. Implement effective classroom management practices that support student success. Foster student independence, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Student Support Support the social-emotional development and well-being of students. Collaborate with intervention teams, special education staff, counselors, and related service providers to meet student needs. Participate in the development and implementation of academic and behavioral interventions.
Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and families to support student achievement. Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), grade-level meetings, and district professional development. Maintain professional competence through ongoing learning and reflection. Fulfill all duties and responsibilities in accordance with district policies and procedures. Family and Community Engagement. Establish positive relationships with families and maintain regular communication regarding student progress and classroom activities. Partner with families to support student learning and development. Participate in school and community events as appropriate.
Job Qualifications Qualifications:
Dual certification in Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) and Students with Disabilities (Grades 1-6) preferred. Strong knowledge of elementary curriculum, instructional best practices, and assessment strategies. Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
