Summary:
Provide a nurturing and developmentally appropriate first educational experience for an urban population of three•and four-year-olds. Forms and maintains family relationships to successfully implement a modified High Scope curriculum. Supports the development of social and emotional skills by implementing the Pyramid framework. Responsible for planning and the preparation of the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) classroom activities and maintaining attendance recording. Acts in collaboration with the teaching team, assists with behavior management and toileting, co-teaches at centers/circles, records and contributes observations on student progress, and maintains knowledge of IEP goals and objectives to assist in implementation by performing the following duties. Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 1. Implements the modified High Scope program using assessments and observations to instruct small group lessons, plan and implement Large Group, Greeting Time and other components of the day and participate fully in the program. 2. Prepares for daily lessons in advance by ensuring classroom materials are ready, plans and accommodations have been discussed with teaching team, and integrate individualized education program goals into small group lesson plans. 3. Conducts and records the Brigance Assessment and other assessments as dictated by programming and recording requirements. 4. Documents key COR anecdotes to plan and maintain daily differentiated lesson planning and record long-term developmental growth. Must meet all required COR reporting deadlines. 5. Attends and participates in meetings, training, and professional development as required, including, but not limited to: RECAP, CLASS, ECERS, TPOT, High Scope, and COR. 6. Facilitates and participates in team planning, sharing teaching responsibilities between teachers and assistants and various duties and roles within the classroom. 7. Implements teaching pyramid practices to fidelity. Uses non-punitive methods of discipline and positively offers guidance. 8. Contributes to a clean, attractive, stimulating, safe, and organized classroom as well as assists in maintaining the cleanliness of floors, bathrooms, toys, and carpets according to New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations, Rochester Childfirst Network policies and procedures, and teaching pyramid model practices. 9. Maintains all required attendance, Child and Adult Care Food Program, New York State Office of Children and Family Services, and other RCN required paperwork with fidelity. 10. Maintains all student emergency contact information, parent contact logs, 'Name to Face' documents and other required paperwork. 11. Develops and maintains a positive rapport with parents and positive working relationship all Rochester Childfirst Network staff. 12. Supports and enforces classroom and center policies. 13. Adheres to OCFS regulations specific to: ratio, incident reporting, and supervision of children. The classroom must be staffed to ratio and acknowledge the requirements of staffing to ratio, i.e., staying past the scheduled end of the shift or leaving early if over-staffed• 14. Maintains knowledge of and implements New York State Office of Children and Family Services regulations, Quality Stars and NAEYC standards, and adheres to the NAEYC Code of Conduct. 15. Adapts to the immediate situation and change plans as needed. 16. Ensures that a minimum of 30 minutes outside time occurs daily in accordance with Childcare Weather Watch guidelines. 17. Ensures that visual media is only used for a total of 30 minutes per week; no more than 10 minutes per day, and as part of a planned written lesson with developmentally appropriate outcomes. 18. Participates in supporting the hygiene needs of children including: supervising children while using bathroom facilities, diapering, and working with families to support children in the potty-training process. 19. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
Applicants must have a minimum of a preschool Child Development Associate (CDA) Bachelors or Masters Degree in Early childhood Education preferred Minimum three years early education experience preferred
Certifications and Licenses:
Initial or Permanent New York State B-2 Certification preferred
Specialized Training and Certificates:

Language & Written Expression Ability:

Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Technology & Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should know and be able to efficiently and effectively use Microsoft and Google word processing software, iPads, various educational platforms used for lesson planning and data collection, payroll systems, email software, and database software.
