Our Vision City View Charter School is a K-8 EL Education charter school in Hillsboro, OR. We believe in building students academic knowledge and skills, challenging them to create high-quality work, while teaching them character skills for life. Our EL curriculum encompasses brick-and-mortar teaching, while taking to the outdoors for fieldwork to connect with our local community. Teachers work with students, staff, and families to create, implement, and celebrate the learning happening throughout the year. Teachers at City View Charter School support the mission and vision of the school as well as embodying the principles and values of EL Education. Job Description A classroom teacher is responsible for the education of each student assigned to his or her class, and is responsible for working with students, parents, other teachers and staff, and the Executive Director towards achieving the mission and goals of City View Charter School. The Classroom Teacher is responsible for teaching all core academic disciplines including language arts, social studies, science and mathematics. This job description is meant to provide structure to the responsibilities and accountability of this position. There may be additional responsibilities that a teacher takes on or that are assigned as needs of the students and school arise.
Qualifications Required:
Commitment to learning and teaching through the EL Education instructional model including outdoor and/or adventure experiences Valid Oregon Teaching License Growth mindset with new technology and systems being implemented by City View Maintain integrity of confidential information of students and staff Ability to collaborate productively with team members Self directed with creative ingenuityPreferred:
Experience with project-based learning Experience with EL Education 1-3 years of experience of classroom teachingCurriculum/Instruction/Assessment:
Plan compelling units and deliver daily engaging lessons that include all learners (SPED, ELLs, 504, and TAG) and that demonstrate a commitment to a multicultural education. This may include content based literacy (EL modules), math, and writing. Collaborate with school leaders and team members to teach required standards and create vertical alignment throughout grade levels. Plan and lead at minimum 2 learning expeditions throughout the year that align with state standards to have direct connections to our local community; candidates should be able to plan compelling topics, guiding questions, high-quality work, and fieldwork (for grades 1 and up, this includes 1-2 overnight fieldworks per year) Utilize formative and summative assessments to analyze student work in order to understand learning and inform instruction. Manage progress monitoring systems to evaluate student achievement.School Culture:
Be able to build a classroom community that effectively communicates the HoWLs (Habits of Work and Learning), EL design principles, and PAX vision in order to maintain a physically and emotionally safe environment. Encourage students to have developmentally appropriate discussions on diversity and equity. Uphold and support the school-wide behavior policies. Document Infractions to the policies and seek help and support from colleagues and administrators when behavior concerns arise. Create behavior plans to support student learning when needed.Professionalism and Responsibilities:
Attend and participate in all staff meetings, student meetings, and professional development with punctuality, preparedness, and engagement. Collaborate with school wide teams to create plans to best serve students, better instructional practices, and share successes. Connect and incorporate families into the classroom. Provide consistent communication throughout the school year via face-to-face, email or online applications, or, online meetings. Encourage and provide opportunities for in person family involvement such as volunteering, chaperoning fieldwork, and school wide events. Participating in professional developments to further competency in teaching the EL model.Working Conditions:

Position is Monday through Fridays, with a 10 month calendarCompensation Package:
The teaching position is a 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week) position with benefits. Competitive salary range starting at $44,230 - $78,998 depending on educational level and experience Offering full benefits including medical, dental and vision insurance and paid long term/short-term disability insurance. 10 Days Paid Time Off (PTO) and 8 paid holidays.
