Elementary Teacher with Dyslexia Expertise (Mornings, Homeschool 10 Yr Old Boy)

Teachers To Go is looking for an in-person elementary teacher with extensive dyslexia training and some type of dyslexia/teacher certification to homeschool a 10 year old boy in 5th grade at his location in Covington

north of Memphis. This is a great opportunity for the right teacher: a part-time position Monday-Thursday mornings teaching just one student that pays $100/hour . This opportunity will begin in August for the upcoming school year. Looking for a teacher to homeschool a 10 year old boy who has advanced dyslexia, dysgraphia and anxiety. He is smart and does ok, but has extreme anxiety about the classroom environment and a severe negative reaction to learning and to school. The teacher will plan and implement daily lessons using multi-sensory techniques and a parent-approved curriculum. (The parents are willing to collaborate with the teacher regarding which curriculum will be used, but the teacher will need extensive dyslexia training and expertise to implement appropriate accommodations.) The right teacher will be kind, easy going, empathetic and encouraging. Looking for a teacher who is patient and consistent, who is capable of supporting the student's academic growth in a homeschool environment. Some type of dyslexia training and certification, and at least 3 years prior elementary teaching experience working with students who have dyslexia is required. Teacher candidates should also have a minimum BA, and prior experience with high-functioning special needs students who are experiencing anxiety is a plus. The right teacher will have good communication with both student and parents. Requirements:

Must have at least a BA, some type of dyslexia certification and prior experience working with dyslexic students, and at least 3 years of elementary teaching experience. State teacher certification and experience working with special need students who have experienced anxiety is preferred, but not required. Must be comfortable teaching all subjects at the 3rd-5th grade level in a homeschool environment. Must have your own reliable transportation & cell phone, and must be able to travel to the location of the student in Covington, TN 38019 Monday-Thursday mornings.
