Full Job Description Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Elementary Classroom Teacher is to provide a nurturing and Christ-centered educational environment for young learners. Additional responsibilities are fostering their academic, spiritual, and character development. The teaching approach should reflect Christian values and principles, promoting a love for God, others, learning, and perform this by carrying out the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach all subjects assigned to the designated grade, adhering to the published curriculum guide, curriculum maps, educational resources, and the school's expectations for biblical integration.
  • Demonstrate integrity and professionalism by maintaining appropriate boundaries and exhibiting professional conduct with colleagues and students.
  • Collaborate with the administration and fellow faculty to help the school achieve its mission, vision, and educational objectives for each student.
  • Create daily and weekly lesson plans with consideration to the background and educational needs of the students, and post them online in accordance with the school's guidelines for faculty and staff.
  • Work with other school staff to create an educational experience that promotes the spiritual, physical, academic, and social-emotional development of each student.
  • Effectively utilize the school's assessment processes to document and report student progress through progress reports, report cards, and summative assessment data.
  • Establish a positive and collaborative relationship with parents by consistently and clearly communicating in accordance with the school's Guidelines for Parent Communication.
  • Attend required school activities and meetings, including Annual School Convocation, KCA Day at OCBF, and State of School meetings.
  • Continuously work to develop and improve professional competence and spiritual maturity.
  • Serve on curriculum development, textbook selection, and special activity committees.
  • Take leadership roles in planning chapel and assigned discipleship activities to foster the spiritual development of students.
  • Fulfill assigned duties, such as monitoring the playground or lunchroom, and participating in school committees with a positive attitude.
  • Appropriately use the school's student information system to post lesson plans, grades, progress reports, and other important information to support student success.
Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university Minimum of three years related classroom teaching experience, preferably in a Christian school. State Teacher certification (Standard or Alternative) or ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) certification is highly preferred.
