ELEMENTARY BILINGUAL TEACHERS

ECTOR COUNTY INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
(ECISD) in Odessa, TX. All require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in any academic major/field from accredited university, or a foreign diploma/degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree, and valid Texas Educator Certificate in Core Subjects and Bilingual Education Supplemental—Spanish for elementary grades or Statement of Eligibility for such certification. Require oral and written Spanish language proficiency.
Job duties include:
providing Emergent Bilingual students in grades 1-5 with appropriate learning activities and native language support while teaching core subjects. Employment contingent on passing drug test and criminal background check. Applicants with negative references will not be considered.

Other Job Duties will include:
 Provide Emergent Bilingual students in grades 1st through 5th with appropriate learning activities and native language support while teaching them English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the District's curriculum program assigned and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in learning styles in students. Present the subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans. Work with other members of the staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods in accordance with district requirements. Employ the use of technologies in the teaching/learning process. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the school. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials. Conduct conferences with students, parents, principals and teachers. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. Participate in staff development activities to improve job related skills. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Be familiar with and follow the rules for educating Emergent Bilingual students to ensure compliance with state-required programs and procedures. Participate in decision-making and administration of state-mandated assessments. Supervise, evaluate, and plan assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteers, if any. Serve as mentor to student teachers.
