The experienced teacher we are seeking will have a passion for teaching and the energy to create hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences for children. Join our vibrant educational community as a YPW Spanish Immersion Elementary School Teacher for 1st grade! In this dynamic role, you will inspire young learners by delivering engaging, immersive lessons entirely in Spanish, fostering bilingual proficiency and a love for learning. You will create a nurturing classroom environment that promotes curiosity, independence, and social-emotional growth. As a teacher you will help shape confident, culturally aware students ready to thrive academically and socially. Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with bilingual curriculum standards, emphasizing literacy, math, science, and social studies in Spanish. Integrate literacy education and writing skills in all content areas to promote biliteracy in subject matter. Teach literacy through instruction based on the Science of Teaching Reading. Implement second language learner strategies to build listening, speaking, reading, writing, and content vocabulary throughout the school day. Foster an inclusive classroom environment and develop empathetic learners that support each other. Facilitate learning through an inquiry-based approach. Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement techniques and effective classroom management strategies. Evaluate student learning through informal and formal assessments and adapt instruction to meet the needs of the learners. Review student outcomes to drive instruction and planning Proven classroom experience working with young children in an elementarysetting. Experience with classroom management techniques that promote positive behavior and engagement. Excellent Spanish communication skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators. Demonstrated ability to develop creative lesson plans tailored to bilingual or immersion settings. Communicate consistently with parents sharing evidence of student learning.
