Franklin Discovery is not a traditional elementary school, and that is part of what makes it such a fun place to teach. Our model operates a little more like a junior high schedule, but for elementary-aged students. Students rotate through classes and experiences throughout the day, while Mentor Teachers provide consistency, connection, academic support, goal setting, and parent communication. This position is a great fit for someone who loves working with elementary students, values creativity and flexibility in education, and wants a teaching role with built-in time for planning, preparation, and meaningful communication with families. This position offers:
A family-friendly school schedule with nights, weekends, holidays, and most school breaks off A 5.5-hour daily shift, Monday through Friday Approximately 3 hours of direct student instruction each day Approximately 2 hours daily for preparation, planning, and parent communication On-site child care at a 50% discount, pending space availability The opportunity to build meaningful relationships with students and families A school culture that values creativity, collaboration, autonomy, and whole-child education A Day in the Life As an Elementary Mentor Teacher, you will: Teach Foundations, a 40-minute daily class focused on community building, academic support, computer-based learning, and student growth Teach FoxDen classes twice daily in small groups of approximately 5 to 7 students Meet with students to discuss goals, progress, challenges, and successes Communicate professionally and consistently with parents Work collaboratively with students, teachers, administrators, and staff Help students build confidence, independence, responsibility, and a love of learning Participate in professional development and school-wide collaboration Support the mission and vision of Franklin Discovery Academy Perform other duties as assigned We're Looking for
