Aug 31, 2026 Job Description The Grade 4 Teacher at Christ the King School maintains responsibility for providing high-quality, education that nurtures the spiritual, academic, social, and emotional development of each student. The teacher integrates Catholic values into all aspects of instruction and serves as a role model of Christian behavior, supporting the mission of the school and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Additional Key Responsibilities:
Faith Formation & Catholic Identity:
Model and promote Catholic values, teachings, and moral development in daily interactions Help lead students in morning and afternoon prayer and participate in weekly Masses, and other religious activities Support preparation for sacraments as appropriate to grade level, if needed Foster a classroom environment rooted in respect, compassion, and service Instruction & Curriculum Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies Teach religion curriculum in alignment with diocesan guidelines, if possible Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs Use a variety of instructional strategies and technology to enhance student learning Classroom Management Establish a structured, respectful, and inclusive classroom grounded in Christian principles Promote positive behavior through clear expectations and restorative practices Create a safe and nurturing learning environment Student Development Support the whole child: spiritual, academic, social, and emotional growth Encourage responsibility, empathy, and service to others Recognize and respond to individual student needs, collaborating with support staff when needed
Assessment & Reporting:
Assess student progress regularly using a variety of methods Maintain accurate academic and behavioral records Communicate student progress with parents/guardians through conferences, report cards, and ongoing communication
Communication & Collaboration:
Build positive partnerships with parents as primary educators of their children Collaborate with faculty, staff, and parish community Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school/parish events
Professional Responsibilities:
Uphold and support the mission and philosophy of the Catholic school Maintain professionalism in accordance with Catholic values and diocesan policies Engage in ongoing faith formation and professional development Contribute to the wider school community and faith life
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field Valid state teaching certification (if possible) Practicing Catholic preferred, or willingness to support the mission of Catholic education Strong classroom management and communication skills
