Overview:
Christ the King School, a private Catholic school located in Vermont, is seeking a enthusiastic, dedicated and compassionate first-grade teacher to join our vibrant school community. This person is responsible for providing a nurturing and challenging educational environment that fosters the academic, social and spiritual growth of first-grade students. The teacher will support the Catholic, faith-based mission of the school, while also implementing state and diocesan curriculum standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction:
Plan, implement and assess lessons in all core subjects (math, language arts, social studies, science) using creative, engaging and developmentally appropriate strategies.
Catholic Faith Integration:
Integrate Catholic values, prayers and teachings into daily lessons, reinforcing spiritual development and ethical behavior in students.
Classroom Management:
Establish a positive, structured and nurturing classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility and academic excellence.
Differentiated Instruction:
Provide individualized or small group instruction as necessary to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Assessment and Reporting:
Assess student progress through formal and informal means (quizzes, tests, projects, observations) and provide regular feedback to students and parents.
Collaboration:
Work closely with colleagues and staff to support the overall academic and spiritual growth of students. Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities and school events.
Parent Communication:
Maintain regular communication with parents through conferences, emails and phone calls to discuss student progress, areas of concern.
Classroom Environment:
Maintain a clean, organized and welcoming classroom that supports student learning and engagement.
Supervision:
Supervise students during lunchtime, recess and other school activities as needed.
Faith Development:
Actively participate in school masses, prayer services and other Catholic, faith-related activities.
Extra-Curricular Activities:
Participate in or lead extracurricular activities that contribute to the overall development of students, such as student clubs or special projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field. Certification in Elementary Education or eligibility for certification. Strong knowledge of the first-grade curriculum and developmentally appropriate teaching practices. Commitment to teaching in a Catholic environment and promoting the faith-based values of the school. Ability to create a positive, respectful and engaging classroom environment. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work collaboratively with parents, colleagues and students. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Previous teaching experience in an elementary setting (preferred).
