Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
This is an academic 12-month position with full benefits. The SAU Tech - Aviation Instructor is under the direct supervision of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Instruction. This position requires a commitment to teaching in a dynamic community college setting and the ability to successfully interact and respond to the broad ranging needs of an academically and culturally diverse campus setting. The instructor will provide instruction in the General, Airframe and/or Powerplant curriculum as required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Essential Functions Statement(s)
To teach the General, Airframe, and/or Powerplant curriculum to SAU Tech students as required for each cohort's phase of training.
To maintain current and accurate records of each student's progress with regards to practical projects, tests, and attendance in accordance with FAA approved procedures.
To maintain, with the FAA, a good relationship and mutual cooperation.
To recommend revisions to curriculum as required, maintaining currency of the training and production of better-qualified graduates.
To recommend the purchase of equipment as required.
To properly handle or delegate issues concerning student problems such as attendance, academics, or behavior.
To monitor policies in use, recommending revisions when necessary for continuance of FAA certification and operation.
To cooperate with the FAA through the process of site inspections of the aviation maintenance training school.
To maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
To work in cooperation with and other aviation instructors in accomplishment of assigned tasks, essential functions, and work schedule issues.
In addition to teaching duties, the instructor will be expected to maintain active participation in non-instructional campus responsibilities such as college and departmental initiatives, assessment of student learning, recruiting, and professional development.
Perform related responsibilities as required or assigned.

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED):
Required Experience :
2 plus years of experience
Certifications & Licenses:
FAA - Airframe and Powerplant Certifications
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The SAU Tech Aviation Instructor has regular contact with agency/institution personnel, the general public and various program-related state and federal agencies. Occasional work other than normal office hours and occasional travel may be required.
