Position Information Job Title Adjunct Instructor - Electrical Systems Technology Job Description The adjunct instructor will provide high-quality instruction in electrical systems technology and related areas, supporting workforce development, industry training, and student success. The instructor will provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences, maintain a safe lab environment, and support student success through effective teaching practices and industry-relevant instruction. Courses may include day, evening, online, hybrid, or weekend instruction based on program needs. This position plays an important role in supporting the College's efforts to strengthen workforce pathways and maintain alignment between Continuing Education and Curriculum programming in Electrical Systems Technology. Full Time or Part Time Part TimeEssential Duties Summary Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach assigned Continuing Education and Curriculum Electrical Systems Technology courses in accordance with College policies and program requirements. Provide instruction in Electrical Systems Technology courses, including classroom, lab, and/or shop settings, ensuring alignment with industry standards and program objectives. Prepare course materials, lesson plans, assignments, and assessments that support student learning outcomes. Demonstrate and supervise proper use of tools, equipment, and safety procedures in electrical labs. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress in accordance with college policies. Collaborate with program faculty and administration to support program development, student success, and alignment between CE and Curriculum offerings. Maintain effective communication with students, faculty, staff, and community partners. Maintain current knowledge of industry standards, technologies, and workforce trends related to electrical systems technology. Perform other instructional and program-related duties as assigned. Classes may be offered during the day, evening, or weekend hours, depending on program needs Required Qualifications Associate degree in Electrical Systems Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Systems Technology, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and industry experience. A State of North Carolina electrician's license Demonstrated work experience in the electrical field. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to teach and work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications Teaching or training experience in a community college, technical school, apprenticeship, or industry setting. Experience with NCCER, OSHA, NEC, or other industry-recognized standards and training. Experience teaching adult learners in continuing education or workforce training programsPhysical Demands Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed under general supervision in an office or classroom setting with appropriate climate controls. Travel, early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required. Essential functions of this position require lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate. Medium work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally; involves sitting only occasionally, walking and standing are required regularly, incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn/twist, balance, reach, or handle.Mental Application:
Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills are important.
