Job Description

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Mechanical Engineering Faculty Mount Vernon Nazarene University exists to shape lives through educating the whole person and cultivating Christ-likeness for lifelong learning and service. Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) is an intentionally Christian teaching university for traditional age students, graduate students, and working adults who seek opportunities to learn and grow in an academic community of faith. Mount Vernon Nazarene University seeks a full-time ( ten-month) Mechanical Engineering Faculty Member for its School of Natural and Social Sciences on the Mount Vernon main campus, beginning fall semester 2026. Rank is open. Compensation is competitive among the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. A full complement of benefits is provided, including a health care plan, retirement contributions and tuition assistance (self and dependents).
Responsibilities may include:
Teaching a broad range of undergraduate engineering courses required for the Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering program. Teaching assignments are expected to be in courses related to general engineering with a concentration in mechanical engineering. Teaching of other related courses may be required Advising of students majoring in Engineering and ensuring that their academic progress meets requirements set by the institution, working with students to encourage professional development, and working with upper-level students on their senior capstone design projects Supporting departmental efforts for continued improvement of programs Serving the University through committee participation
Qualifications:
Evangelical Christian statement of faith, experience, and mission fit A graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required. An earned Ph.D. in Engineering is preferred Candidates with PE certification and industry experience are particularly desirable The candidate should have a broad interest in engineering disciplines at the undergraduate level and the ability to teach courses related to machine synthesis, engineering materials, mechanical vibrations, and ability to mentor students in capstone design projects Strong presentation skills, and commitment to quality classroom instruction and student learning Excellent oral and written communication skills, and proven ability to work collaboratively with others Ability to lift 25 lbs In a continuing effort to enrich its academic environment and provide equal educational and employment opportunities, the university actively encourages applications from members of all ethnic groups underrepresented in higher education.
